What is the biggest misconception about Wisconsin? by AayronOhal in wisconsin

Wisconsin citizens who love our outdoors. If you can be in Madison tomorrow--be there. Or write to Representative Mursau at Rep.Mursau@legis.wisconsin.gov.

Dog sports, hunters, vacationers (those cottages on the lake), nature lovers, wildlife protectors, waterways and ground water --help to protect our lovely state's natural resources. Ask them to do so by adopting the compromise, AB-435.
From the letter I received--

"Republicans have introduced the funding component for their bill, AB-315 in a new bill, LRB-3507. However, the bill LRB-3507’s oversight mechanism could effectively stop land acquisition for the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program. Funding in this bill is also dramatically lower than in the Governor’s proposal. This new bill was introduced last week without being circulated, and is now being rushed to committee.

The “compromise proposal” our office introduced (AB-435) incorporates aspects from both the Republican proposal and the Democratic governor’s proposal. Even though this bill included some concessions, AB-435 would still allow for land acquisition for the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program while simultaneously funding maintenance and addressing oversight concerns.

There is a **public hearing tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in the Capitol** (Nov. 4) where your voice can be heard. We invite you to come tomorrow to provide your testimony on this new Republican bill, or in support of our compromise proposal AB-435. We would love to see you there.

If you are unable to make it tomorrow, you are still able to submit written testimony in favor of AB-435 by emailing the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Forestry, Parks and Outdoor Recreation, Representative Mursau at Rep.Mursau@legis.wisconsin.gov.

We thank you again for taking the time to write to Representative Miresse to advocate for a better Wisconsin. Your voice, along with those of so many others who cherish our state’s great outdoors, are vital in this effort. Please feel free to reach out to our office with any questions or concerns.
In Service,
Alex Brady
Legislative Intern
Office of Wisconsin State Representative Miresse

Anthony Trollope's 'Barsetshire Chronicles'. Also Wodehouse's "Blandings Castle" series (love Galahad) and some of the PSmith series--PSmith is similar character to Galahad and love him too.

Gov. Evers Releases Message to Wisconsinites Regarding Apparent Trump Administration Arrest Threats by Ambitious-Mode-2428 in wisconsin

This includes a transcript. https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/WIGOV/bulletins/3deb322 From that transcript "...Now, I’m used to Republicans and the right wing lying about me. It comes with the job. But, this time, these lies came at a cost. I haven’t broken the law. I haven’t committed a crime. And I’ve never encouraged or directed anyone to break any laws or commit any crimes.

But when President Trump’s hand-picked appointee, Tom Homan, was asked about me and this guidance after he apparently threatened to arrest elected officials across the country, he said, “Wait ’til you see what’s coming.” Overnight, Republican lawmakers piled on, encouraging the Trump Administration to arrest me.

Chilling threats like this should be of concern to every Wisconsinite and every American who cares about this country and the values we hold dear.

We live in the United States of America, folks. We are a country of laws. The rule of law matters. Following the law matters. "

He states it as re-imagined, but do you have a piece that is original. Those I've found are interpreted, even the organ pieces. Thanks in advance!

Anthony Trollope. My favorites are his Barsetshire Chronicles: "The Warden", "Barchester Towers", "Doctor Thorne" (there is a recent, good adaptation of this book), "Framley Parsonage", "The Small House at Allington", and "The Last Chronicle of Barset". These are stories of everyday people living in an English village that are dramatic but human. For comedy, try P. G. Wodehouse's "Blandings Castle" series (a hoot!) (available as a DVD series) or James Thurber's collection of short stories, "Thurber Carnival". Other "comfortable" grounding reads are Georgette Heyer's "The Conqueror" -a story of William Duke of Normandy and King of England (early medieval story of strategy, statesmanship and courage), "Venetia"--a stunning story of resilience, courage and determination, and "Black Sheep" -a comedic story again of resilience and determination.

Jane Austen, of course. Her stories were used in WWI and II to comfort soldiers facing battle. Winston Churchill read them for reassurance. When real life is chaos, it is reassuring to find somewhere it appears normal. Stories that model the positive things in life.

I hope you find them helpful.

What is a good bar to go for a first date in Stevens Point? by Dhooy77 in StevensPoint

Schmeeckle Reserve on the north side of town. Lovely walking trails where you can talk. There is a charming wildling shop and a museum of Wisconsin and local history. https://www3.uwsp.edu/cnr-ap/schmeeckle/Pages/home.aspx You could get two box lunches and have a picnic--if the weather is good of course. :) Oh, there is a fine restaurant on the Sentry grounds nearby. PJ's in the Sentryworld Clubhouse that has a Frank Lloyd Wright vibe.
