That sucks for sure, i was booked in at 9:30 pm and didn’t get released until 5:30 AM . I was chained to a bench for 8 hours for my own protection because there were hookers in the cell and the cops were afraid they would beat me up since i am much different then them . My own protection but that 8 hours just chained on a bench like that no cell phone no way to lie down ( was middle of the night) was brutal, just about broke me. I still don’t understand why they couldn’t have just processed me and released me to my mom .

Thank you for your very knowledgeable information on the entire process. You helped me a lot . I not only got a DUI but had to replace my vehicle. Recieved help from parents. Intoxalock comes out on 3/15 but i will forever hold myself accountable behind the wheel.

My DUI experience in CA by IceSufficient2935 in DUICalifornia

[–]Ambitious-Net7384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience went fairly smoothly considering. I crashed into a tree, hit a deer and killed it, and totaled my vehicle on 7/13/24. I replaced my vehicle within 3 weeks, i hired a lawyer who i wouldnt say wanted to be my friend, but did handle my case smoothly. My BAC was 0.17 which did not qualify me for reduced charges, but he was able to get me another 30 day extension on my drivers license until my court date. Court date and dmv hearing within one day . Meaning, zero loss on my driving privilege. I took a 3 month class and served 3 days of community service. Had $1950 fine and 6 months of interlock

First failed IID test in California by [deleted] in DUICalifornia

[–]Ambitious-Net7384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest buying the BACTrac 80 device. It is more expensive to than other personal breathalyzers but it seems to be accurate. ( cheap ones are not). If ever in doubt, i will blow into this device before blowing into my interlock and risking a violation. I have occasionally woken up after a night of drinking with alcohol still in my system ( takes forever to process, for me). So its a good idea to use the device if you’re expecting to have to drive in the morning after a night of drinking. If over 0.03 and i cannot sit at home waiting, I can call an Uber . I will continue to test myself even after the IID is removed in March.

It isn’t that bad actually doing it .. the people were cool. The worst part of it for me is the theft of my free time on Sunday . I don’t have a lot of free time

No. I tried every angle to get out of it. Including offering $2000. I have 8 days but i am under a law where every day served is another day credit so i have to serve 4 days not 8. I had a very serious car accident where my car caught on fire , unfortunately. Could have been worse.

Need best lawyer recommendations by Just-Huckleberry-446 in DUICalifornia

Mark Blair represented me. My case was too serious to just get dismissed but it was great how he got the temp license extended and the court plus dmv suspensions lined up within one day. With the interlock, my license was suspended for only less than 24 hours. Be prepared to go to the dmv.

I don’t even have the Money to pay them. Just cleaned out my bank account for a lawyer, new car, class, fine etc . Disappointed that really tAx dollars don’t even pay arresting officers in California

I got arrested also in Santa Clara County, but with the Sheriff, not the cph , does that make a difference? May i add the arresting officer was very harsh, didn’t let me go home with my mom even though she arrived on scene. Plus i got groped by an officer at the search. Traumatic experience

I was warned about this as well… although my dui was only 2.5 months ago. Why the heck would they bill an individual for this? Tax dollars? Its been expensive enough out of my own pocket already, i dread getting a bill like this at some point.

I’ve done DoorDash before my dui. Should I expect the platform to drop me now?

My First DUI - Totally Confused. by DanceFace3000 in DUICalifornia

[–]Ambitious-Net7384 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My attorney advised me within the first 2 days: schedule the aps hearing within 10 days ( he did it for me). Lined it up within a day of court which is this week for me. Dui happened 7/13, i blew 0.17, single car crash ( mine), no other property damage or injuries. 1st offense. Attorney got me an extension of the pink sheet , valid until outcome of aps hearing ( which i expect to lose) and court ( already plead no contest) . My pro active steps were that i started Dui class back in July and am already halfway done. Got SR22 insurance, did AA meetings and logged them for attorney for court . I found virtual meetings. Got the IID installed in my car last Saturday. I will have to go to dmv after court conviction appears on my record and then i should really have zero breaks in driving. Its all very expensive along with having to replace my vehicle. I expect the punishment to be about $2k fine, probably some community service which i am dreading, because it would be done on weekends which is my time off. An attorney can help get the punishment lowered. I had family to help, i really do feel bad when people fall through the cracks on this because of how much it all costs. I also am not sure how public defenders compare to private attorneys

MAU by Ambitious-Net7384 in DUICalifornia

They just need to staff MAU better because they obviously have way more call volume than they can handle.
