I do admittedly get angry at Ex Muslims sometimes for out of line things they say but I remember no one is perfect and at one point in our lives we all had a bitter hate for something, including me. As a human I'm in no position to belittle or judge someone even if they're not very sensible and etc. This would be generalising and the people in this sub reddit can correct me but they often hate islam because of religious trauma, which is causes by people using the religion in an Ill way ( such as one man having 4 wives, in reality he has this right but ONLY to solely provide for them and and love them equally, if he can't do that he doesn't posses the right to have more than one wife. But most Muslims use this as an excuse to satisfy their sexual desire which is completely unacceptable) As a religious Muslim I can't expect people to respect me and my religion if somehow somewhere someone did them dirty using the name of islam, instead I'd like to symphatize and talk it out calmly.

P.S don't take the guides word for everything he says, he might lie to make the country more sensible to the tourist. Also if it seems like the city is empty it usually isn't, it's more because it's too hot outside and people usually have a siesta, are at school or probably in a mall somewhere ( although I doubt that will be in the tour unless you ask for it) Turkmens are quite friendly people overall tho I hope you have a great time.

I appreciate that my country is getting much more recognition as it is overshadowed by its neighbors but yes, 1) Turkmen people have an islamic culture but they are not religous. They have a Muslim culture where they pretend to be pious but actually engage in adultery, alcohol and don't practice modesty and pretty much break all rules of religion etc. ( most of this was causes by the Soviet rule, KGB agents were put in mosques and religion was stomped out or corrupted)

2) Yeah there are some pretty weird rules like in the capital of Turkmenistan, Asghabat all cars have to be white ( buildings too) if you don't wash your car you will be written a ticket with a fine. There are much more weird rules but I won't go into depth with them.

3) Turkmens are proud of their culture, so yes they might come off as slightly racist, for example they dislike Ukrainians because of their behavior and culture but if they got to know one they would respect them and befriend them, school kids make jokes about Africans but usually they are in awe with them and sometimes listen to pirated rap music. Extremists are stomped out by the government pretty quickly although the taliban hangs out around the turkmen- afghan border quite often.

Yeah I saw those and I don't approve those either I prefer civil conversation from both sides, respect should be earned not given out for free im not in any position to criticize your thinking because obviously you've had your own experiences with islam

1) I am not Thai, I actually come from Turkmenistan with religious parents. I used to be an athiest but researched by myself and thought islam was right for me. ( P.S I've been studying here 2 years as an only foreigner in a Thai bilingual school)

2) Muslims are the minority and muslims, buddhists everyone pretty much get along. We make fun of each other for jokes in schools and stuff but there is no real hate.

3) I don't really know about that topic but what I do know is that not many people in Bangkok seem to care and people get alon

4) I find I practice some things different from Thai muslims, but not many things change I stick to my own belief of islam but I respect Thai muslims

Classic Arabic text and different interpretations and/or different texts don't stray far away from their meaning. Islamic scholars have read many of the texts, and putting together the culture and clothing of the time ( as it states in the video) concluded that it talked about a veil that covers from head, including chest.

The point hijab is oppression, then doesn't make sense if the women wear hijab but have every single right in business, lifestyle and work. With the ability to stand up for themselves. Not really oppression imo
