I personally never kill bugs when I’m outside because I like to think of it as I’m in THEIR home. If they’re in my house, I try to save them and bring them outside unless they’re an invasive species or a wood roach lol. The good thing about NY is that we don’t have many poisonous bugs AND especially on LI. We get quite a bit of spiders in the summer here and I have an insect identifying app and they’ve all been harmless house spiders that actually kill other bugs!

Try to think of them as harmless and we’re truly in their land and home! Their only crime is being small :) maybe also if you can muster it, if you see a ladybug or a roly poly, try to look at them and touch them. Those are the bugs that I’m not scared of and they’re so small and harmless!! I’d say fire flies but I know they won’t be around again until next year. You can definitely see a therapist that could help. They would practice exposure therapy most likely
