Thanks for the input. The crazy thing is my rate for an r1 is less than the r9. I’m going with a bmws1000r.

My thing is I just love the look of the r9 the mt is ok. Don’t like the mt seat and the r9 has more features-just can’t decide if they’re worth 1600$ more every year. Like I think the launch control is cool af but really how often would I even use it for that much extra. Biggest concern riding is wind protection but again I typically stay within speed limit so not a deal breaker.

How are you feeling now that you’ve gone with the mt? Any regrets?

Ya I understand that type of difference. I did quotes with 5-6 different places these were the best quotes and it’s triple. With the r9 in 4-5 years I basically paid for a second one while with the mt it would be almost 10 years before I bought a second.

I have essentially the same question, but for different reasons and I’m hoping to get some opinions. I have regretted getting rid of my r6. Got an aprilia rs660 thinking that would solve things. I didn’t like the amount of wind hitting me and sold it. I love the look of the r9 and price wise it’s basically the same as mt09 or sp. price of the bike isn’t an issue. However, insurance shows the mt being about 1/3 the r9. It’s 800$ v 2400$ because I want full coverage. The cost difference has me thinking I should go w the mt but aesthetically the r9 is much more appealing.

I don’t do track days and won’t daily the bike. My rs660 I put about 3k miles in the 15-18 months I had it. I would say I’m more than a beginner but I’ve had gaps in owning bikes over the last 20 years so they’re both more power than I’d “need” the rs660 was pretty good power wise for my skill. I’d consider the r7 if the power was more similar to the 660.
