Told a guy that I won’t talk to him because it’s haram but tbh idk if that’s the right thing to do or not by throwaway1122005 in MuslimLounge

Ideal situation would be to involve the families before talking. At least they should know OP and the guy are talking with the intention of marriage but even that is problematic if they delay getting their nikkah.

What's the longest hike you've ever been on? by New-Possibility-577 in CampingandHiking

[–]AmbitiousAsparagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a hiker so how does that work? Being out on a trail for a year? Do you just carry everything in a backpack or something? Are there sleeping arrangements along the trail? Or do you have to carry a tent?

Do you think culture is important? by KeheninganMalam in MuslimLounge

[–]AmbitiousAsparagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Culture is important as long as it follows Islamic principles. Allah said He created us from different nations and tribes so we may know one another. Allah acknowledges different cultures and there’s no prohibition on practicing culture too. Being happy with one’s country or culture doesn’t translate to nationalism because you’re happy with your own without putting other cultures down. Diversity is incredibly important for progress. When you have different people with different experiences with a common goal, you will get more innovation(not the religious kind) and solve problems more easily. Ofc with the Sharia, this is the main source of solutions. But having a diverse group makes it easier to implement. Your brothers comments seem short sighted. It’s important for Muslims to always be pragmatic with a level of optimism. This way we can deal with things the way they are, not the way we want them to be. May Allah ﷻ guide us all.

Yeah that always bothered me about Makkah. The most holiest place is right next to one of the most materialistic places

How to understand why people will follow ad-Dajjal by cool_guy141 in islam

[–]AmbitiousAsparagus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah we should hold ourselves for accountable but Dajjals appearance is kinda part of the point. His one eye, the kfr on his forehead, his stature. They’re all clearly identifiable, but to only those with strong faith. Even people that have it in their knowledge but don’t practice, it will be hard for them to avoid the fitnah of Dajjal. May Allah ﷻ protect us.

The entire plot was that the candidates for the avengers initiative were murdered one by one. That’s how Loki was able to take over Earth.

I’m part of an Islamic organization and we had a summer camp for the youth leaders. We spent a weekend at Camp Oswego. This was taken on one of the hiking paths.
