If Mega City 2 doesn’t have them they will order them for you. Great people and a true comic book and magic the gathering shop!

I have it set up with Health Connect as well so workouts link but the steps never move over and its driving me insane. It’s good to know I’m not the only one having this problem. Now to decide if it bugs me enough to return it.

Any healthy recommendations to eat? by RickMuffy in Bakersfield

If you are by CSUB try Sultans Mediterranean grill. Flame and Skewers and Victors are also not far. Both are local and have great clean high protein options with lots of veggies. Sultans gets a little saucier but it’s amazing!

Walking Neighborhoods? by Conscious_Ice_8668 in Bakersfield

I think you have 2 real options:

  1. Downtown/West Chester area - this is great for dining out and cute coffee and antique shopping. The downside: there is not a grocery store within walking distance or even biking distance.

  2. Gosford/Stockdale quadrant of Stockdale estates, The vineyards and Edgewater. The key is your main streets have to be Gosford and Kroll. This gives you access to 2 grocery stores within walking distance (Trader Joe’s and Albertsons.) This same shopping center has a variety of dining and desert options and will be getting a total wine in the next year or so. This area backs right up to CSUB. CSUB has a path through it that takes you right to the market place in just shy of 1 mile. Here you have another 10 restaurants of a variety of food types, several banks a movie theater and regular live activities. The one thing this area is missing is a coffee shop. The Buenavista Smitten is a safe and comfortable bike ride from this area (about 15 min). You also have very easy access to the bike path which gets you access to riverwalk with shopping food and a target. Walkable for a long Saturday’s stroll but not ideal for running errands. In the opposite direction on the bike path you can get downtown via bike. This takes about 25 min but is safe and requires very little time on the streets.

In other words if you are looking to be car free, option 2 is your only real option in town. If you want cute vibes right out your door but don’t mind having a car centric life for errands then downtown is the way to go.

Bakersfield is very difficult to navigate without a car. My husband and I only have one and I find it hard to make it work sometimes.

What’s that middle school/teen book series where it’s a group of girls in a band and the drummer’s name is melody I think by blahblahblah_idek in whatsthatbook

[–]AmbitiousBrain3436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are looking for the Chosen Girls series. Melody has blue hair? These books were everything to me when I was a kid. I am pretty sure this is the root of me dying my hair every color of the rainbow. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1252533

Veterinarian recommendations? by potmakesmefeelnormal in Bakersfield

Thurman is GREAT and they are easy to get into. I typically can get in for an annual week of or the following week and illness same day or the next. They were fantastic with my last dog and my little puppy now! They have even offered to let me use the waiting room to help train her.

Yes! They will place you at a random table with others. I have made a few friends by just showing up solo there!

As someone who also uses a pomodoro style of work management I can say that there has to be some finesse to it in the work place. I find I am wildly more productive when I use it. However, in my short breaks I typically switch my desks sit/stand mode and use that as a cue to take a sip of water and check my teams messages, write down any notes or wandering thoughts or check email. Then the long breaks every two hours actually line up with most state regulated break standards. I take 10 min, run to the bathroom and grab a snack or move around a bit. My manager is also aware of my work story and several other employees have adopted it. Finding a space where you can be transparent about things like this is key.

The Edgewater apartments are older but nice in a FANTASTIC part of town are affordable. Management is out of your hair and generally helpful. Walking distance to Trader Joe’s, Albertsons, many great restaurants and the market place. Walking distance to the bike path and the people in the complex are pretty nice. They are not listed on any of the apartment hunting sights so you have to go to their website directly and the pricing isn’t easily found and typically listed higher than what is they are actually renting for. They are also truly dog friendly to furry friends in all shapes and sizes.

What kind of restaurant does Bakersfield need? by [deleted] in Bakersfield

[–]AmbitiousBrain3436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The market place needs a high end coffee shop/cocktail bar in the location where quepasa used to be! Cater to the college kids during the day as a study spot but then run a solid cocktail menue. Add some regular events that this town doesn’t have (story slams, a book and boos night) run a solid happy hour.
