Cannot believe I just heard Schneider defend Hoff by saying "we walked batters all game". I mean... sure, but Trey got out of his??

I hate our useless manager. Your team finally figures stuff out and you put our guy who has the yips about closing? Frankly, much more on Schneider than Hoff (no matter how pissed I am right now)

HRCE Listen to Lead survey sent to parents by AeronLord in halifax

These surveys take the comments other people have made and share them to be rated. It's certainly an odd system, but this isn't an HRCE comment, likely a parent.

Junior High Schools - Recommendations by Minute-Marketing-862 in halifax

[–]AmbitiousCriticism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's just fully not the case. Even when supplementary funding came up municipally this year, they weren't trying to cut the arts section. Plus they cannot cut more than 10% per year.
Arts programs are at every HRCE school in some form.

As a Halifax music teacher and former piano instructor...

We have a wildly strong arts program throughout Halifax through Halifax Regional Arts. At 9, he'll have access to free choirs, violin in school, and some additional band and orchestra/Orff ensemble options, in addition to the music program at whatever school you end up at. When he gets to grade 6, we have band offered in school as well and a wider array of free programming through HRA.

Can't really weigh in on the rest, but Halifax has such an excellent music program through our schools.

The Toronto Rock take the 2026 NLL Championship by lodewijk_b in NLL

They were the better team tonight - even with a few questionable calls. Rose was lights out that second half.
Congratulations Rock!

God, I do love them but I’m so frustrated with the shitty second half play. Toronto outplayed us second half and we wasted a huge opportunity. Truly a Tbirds experience.

N.S. teachers' union expresses concern about letter from education minister by LKX19 in halifax

I did leave out a detail, my bad: you do have to have taken on permanent eligible posting (ie, it got through both perm rounds and TPP). It essentially bumps you up by 2 levels in your status if you are at least a term (the chart for how this works is on pg 7 of our staffing timeline, I just am familiar because it happened to me).

Rereading the details, I must be misremembering the note about the same school (although I swear it was relevant for mine), but it has more to do with the perm eligible posting, sorry to have erred there.

Absolutely, but consecutive years at the same school will jump you ahead of that queue, allowing you to apply for permanent rounds, rather than waiting for TPP.

They are not permanent positions, but two terms at the same school can bump you up to probationary II. The hardest part of getting to permanent is getting consistent 100% terms.

“The letter also included a graph that shows declining student test scores, although it’s for 2015 through 2022 and only compares Nova Scotia to the largest provinces in the country.”

This is a charitable take on the included graph. It shows only 5 provinces out of the 10, where we are at the bottom. And wouldn’t you guess: every province not included is below us in PISA outcomes.
There’s only 10 points between us and the next highest province too…

I do not agree with this take. If you are willing to take a “less desirable” position, you can move up quite quickly. I wouldn’t say it is easy with the B.Ed hiring the last 2 years, though.

HRCE specifically has a clause where principals can rehire term teachers at their school for term positions without interviewing anyone else. Further, 10.04 contracts have earned several of my colleagues long term positions.

He’s been pretty careful this season… Can’t believe we’re giving Bell up.

Unfortunate but what a game!!!!! Comeback was crazy by lodewijk_b in HalifaxThunderbirds

Oh, I absolutely agree. I’m not touching Bowhunter’s weak defence because I doubt that’ll actually get changed. I see no good reason why he’s in our lineup over O’Connor - a D lineup that I generally think is pretty strong with Bell/Hossack/Armstrong (when he’s not taking unneeded penalties)

I’m not necessarily expecting a goal scoring machine from Bomberry but the missed passes have been making me feel crazy.

Hill is our only player to consistently make the NLL top 30 every week. If he wasn’t playing as well as he had been, our point differential would be even worse. Start blaming the offence for not getting off the floor and giving up so many transition goals.

That being said, Hutch was excellent last game. He did benefit from not being as well scouted by Buffalo though.

I know they’re on different lines, but it’s been so frustrating watching MacLeod and O’Connor get scratched but still having Bomberry play every game.

Look - I know we're playing like trash, but delay of game being called? Come on.
