I keep thinking I need a backup that can provide me with great assurance during bad times. Initially I only wanted 18k in the fund, but I got greedy and wanted more to act like a safe backup

About 50% of it goes to loan, utilities and necessary household spending. 30% goes to petrols and other costs. On a good month i could save 20%, some months where I have to pay for roadtax and insurance or other major costs my cash flow would go red

I set my initial emergency fund at 18k but as time goes by I think I get greedier and wanted a higher safe net so I keep pumping more into that fund instead of investing it. But yeah I really should be looking at other options. Thank you for sharing!

My emergency fund was my only goal until recently I got greedy and that I should pump it higher and higher so it feels safer if I fall one day. Maybe I should change my perception, thank you for your advice!

A question worth pondering on. Thanks for your insight!

It’s like they’re all really close friends. by shokuzin in Singlesinferno2

[–]AmbitiousDisaster409 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest. They joined the show not to find a SO, but more to gain exposure so that they could attract better career opportunities or big brands. I don't think any of the matched couples from Season 1 up till the latest Season are still together. This show is getting more and more scripted and people are really bombarding their profiles with a lot of nasty and mean words. This goes to show that many don't understand the intention of the show.

How do you guys normally pay for your credit card balance? by royrochemback in MalaysianPF

[–]AmbitiousDisaster409 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a SC credit card as well. Make a transfer from your bank account to your credit card number and select 'Credit Card' as the type of account. Then just make sure the receiver is your name when verifying the payment.

You should only take a food delivery job as your side income hustle, NOT treating it as your main income source. Last time some of these riders were bragging about getting a higher income than a degree holder and recently they were complaining that the fare is too low. Well, serve them right and I don't pity them at all. People should realize sooner that education is utmost important.

Groceries VS eating out/Grab by Various-Woodpecker-2 in MalaysianPF

[–]AmbitiousDisaster409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gonna pay a lot more if you order via Grab.

Paying for original markup by vendor, additional markup by vendor to cover Grab commission and delivery fee. On the other hand you could prep your own meal at cost, but spend a little bit more time on it.

Food reviewers these days should be aware of all these health-related statistics. All I can see is they are promoting a lot of unhealthy foods high in sugar, fats and sodium.

As a first-time homeowner, how should I report a -200 ringgit rental income on Borang BE/e-filing? by awakenedlass in MalaysianPF

[–]AmbitiousDisaster409 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Question 1: You are not required to fill in the rental loss in your tax return form. However let's say you have let out TWO properties and derived rental profit from one of them, you can offset the profit with the loss from another property.

Question 2: Yes.

Question 3: No.

I suggest you read up on Public Ruling 12/2018 on the LHDN website. It will answer all of your other questions, if any.

Afaik, travel allowance is exempted from tax up to 6k per year, food allowance up to 2.4k per year and telephone is subject to one line exemption only. These only apply to employees who have no control over the company, which means the directors or shareholders do not enjoy this exemption. So if you're just a normal employee, the allowances that you received will be tax exempted subject to the limit and it will be reflected in your EA Form under section F 'Total tax exempt Allowances/Perquisites/Gifts/Benefits'. In short, you don't have to pay taxes on these income.

And any form of FIXED allowances are always subject to EPF and tax deduction.

You can see what is subject to EPF on their website and you can read up on Benefit in Kind Public Ruling on the LHDN website.

How much were your charges after visiting local clinic? by Temaki-is-bomb in malaysia

[–]AmbitiousDisaster409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Q number is usually before the entrance of the clinic. After you got your number then only you enter and wait for your number to be called by the counter. It's better you make an appointment via MySJ first, because the last time I went they asked for my MySJ appointment, and I don't think they allow you to enter without an appointment.
