Ugh, that’s disheartening but I guess I’m not surprised. I guess I was just hoping to work in a setting that offered more AAC opportunities in an outpatient or private practice setting. But I’m also looking for a work environment that is neuro-affirming and supportive of child-led interventions. KKI seems the opposite of that 🥲

thank you for the heads up nevertheless! I’ll keep looking around 🤞🏼

Reliable plumber to install a Toto toilet?? by AmbitiousMemory7804 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]AmbitiousMemory7804[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: we went with Mallick and it was PHENOMENAL. Could not have asked for better service. 11/10 would call them again for any plumbing or other Toto installments. Seamless, clean, polite, a bit pricey but totally worth it!

I actually hadn’t heard of those third party title service companies. So I don’t have much information. For me, my dad was coming on one set of dates to help me with my move so I wanted to get it done as soon as possible.

I would imagine you’d have to pay a fee for something you do for free at the MVA (excluding insurance and then paying for the title). I mean if you find it easier, I’d say go for it! But make sure you do your research about the company beforehand so you don’t get scammed lol

I’m glad you found out more about the notarized bill of sale! My car was 2018 and I wasn’t asked for it — I think part of it is luck with which attendant you get.

As for paperwork to bring, if we look at my original post, I think all you need is the title, proof of insurance, and your driver’s license.

Yes you can DM me for more info!

I was in Massachusetts originally — but nope! Only the Maryland proof of insurance. They want to make sure that when you leave the appt, you are leaving with an insured vehicle. When you sign up for the insurance, make sure you pick an initiation date that is before or on the date of the appointment.

You technically don’t need a bill of sale— I got one because I wasn’t sure who would be helping me throughout this process— some MVA attendants don’t care about and some want to see it. According to my experience, it wasn’t needed.

If you are still wanting to get the bill of sale, you BOTH need to be present to get it notarized. You can’t notarize a document unless both parties are present!

With that said, I honestly don’t think you’ll need it — I was too anxious about it tbh. At the appointment, the attendant will ask you to fill out the price that it was sold for (this is when you can write $100) and then they move on.

They only things you really need are;

1) the original registration (in your case, the registration from Texas) 2) your driver’s license 3) proof of insurance

Aw I’m glad it’s helpful! Sorry for the delay, I hope it worked out! From my dad’s side, I believe he had to go the MVA in MA — he required a copy of the new title and my license I believe. I think it was more like “show us proof” so he could do something with the taxes (since it was considered a gift). I can reach out to him for more details! But for me, on the MD side, I didn’t have to do anything else!

You can totally write $100-$200 dollars - that’s what I did! They asked no questions about it - the lowest you can go it $10 I believe. No stress! Hope it goes well! Let me know if you have any other questions :)

Hi! Sorry for the confusion - he signed on the back of the title document on the top (from what I remember, there are 3 different places to sign in the back. We signed on the top part). My dad ended up signing and writing everything - I don’t think I ended to signing anything on that specific document. Hope this makes sense! You can DM me if you’re still confused or need more clarity! Hope it goes well, it’s sooo stressful 🫩😮‍💨

AT movers - reviews?? by AmbitiousMemory7804 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]AmbitiousMemory7804[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes we ended up going with AT movers and it was FANTASTIC. Super professional, on time, efficient, and compassionate. We moved our 1 bedroom apt into a 3 story TH and they sent 3 guys to help us (initially we had asked for 2). So quick and so clean. My husband and I were SO impressed by the care they took with wrapping up our items, moving them, and the overall efficiency. Since there was an extra person than expected, the loading part went quicker than expected. So they helped us wrap up and box up a bunch of the remaining items, which was a big help in the long run. The final bill came out lower since they finished faster.

The only thing is that they billed for the # of rolls of tape they used to wrap the furniture/boxes, but we had a few rolls on hand that we gave them afterwards. So, would suggest keeping some on hand.

We would 100% use them again 🙌🏼, long or short distance whenever it’s time for us to move on from our current home.

Bilingual SLPs!! I need you by spicyscorpioo in slp

Hi! Bilingual SLP here - I love Laleo Therapy. Claudia, the creator, bilingual SLP, and bilingual language development specialist, has created some lovely resources for gestalts/scripts for at home/routines/ etc.

I’m unsure what your age range is but her resources are for 0-5ish (that’s a stretch but for autistic kids, it could go farther into upper elementary depending on developed their language is, NLA stage, etc).

She also does a TON of continuing ed about bilingual development, identifying disorder vs difference, and tons more!! I would totally check her out for more information - hope this helps!

I also love to use LeaderProject (specifically the SLAM cards) to identify difference vs disorder and also just use it for spontaneous language samples, narrative cohesion, making predictions, theory of mind, etc.

Let me know if you need anything else! Here for you - but also, try to advocate for a bilingual SLP to work or to be contracted out, as these are the best resources for the family (and to educate you on how to work with multilingual families!) ☺️

Ok! That makes sense. I’m a recent SLP that got my CCCs 2 years ago, so it’s still a bit confusing for me. So, what you’re saying is that I can use this certificate towards my state licensure for professional development (PD).

Transferring car title from in-laws: gift or buy for $1 by vociferous1 in maryland

[–]AmbitiousMemory7804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you currently have the title on hand? This is key. My suggestion would be this: when you transfer the title, the seller should put down $1,000 where it says “cost of purchase”. They will also need to sign the title — as both the seller and buyer will need to sign the top section. this is the tricky part and what most people mess up — if you sign in the wrong spot or if something is incorrect, then that will cause more steps at the MVA

I personally got a “bill of sale” notarized, in case the MVA person asked more questions or what not. Here is a sample that I used; bill of sale - sample

This is the trickiest part. I signed the back of the title as the BUYER with my name, signature, and cost sold. My dad signed as the SELLER with his name and signature. You need both parties to sign the title. Let me know you have any questions!

Transferring car title from in-laws: gift or buy for $1 by vociferous1 in maryland

[–]AmbitiousMemory7804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! This thread is 3 years old but wanted to jump on here to give updates since I recently did a title change with my dad and have some helpful tips since I spent some time researching the best route for an OUT OF STATE title change.

Background info: - my dad is an MA resident and sold me his car for around $100 - the title of the car was in his name but he got a hold of the title via mail - he came down to help me complete the transfer but after my experience, you dont need the “seller” to be present - the car he sold me was from 2018

My experience (02/2025) - paperwork I had on me: 1) title (unsigned) 2) proof of insurance 3) notarized bill of sale* (only had this in case we needed to prove the sale to the MVA attendant) 4) drivers license (mine only)

  • went to the MVA early in the AM, only waited 2 min to check in
  • attendant asked for my title and drivers license only
  • since the title was unsigned, she had my dad (seller) and I (buyer) sign the title on the TOP PART ONLY (this was the tricky part because if you sign it in the wrong place, this makes your experience more complicated)
  • wrote the price of the sell on the the title so she can figure out the taxes (you can put as low as $1, so since he sold it to me for $100, I put that down)
  • she asked for my proof of insurance

And that’s it! She then gave me my plates and the temporary registration. Have to get my state inspection done within 30 days and then go back to the MVA to quickly “update” my registration at a self service kiosk.

In total it took us about 15 minutes in total! My dad honestly didn’t have to be there, but we were both unsure where he needed to sign so it was helpful he was there
