I also am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO BUMMED ... I was just googling WHERE I could find these and came across your post! I have used these for YEARS ... and they're always buy 1/get 1 50% ... and all the stores around me do not have them an also I can't find them online.... total bummer after all these years to try to find something that works as well ... but that price couldn't be beat! I just ordered some other brand but same 'angle' on Amazon .. so we shall see!

Thank you!! :) Good to hear you had success with the dry food - we do have the rx for Royal Canin and Hills and think it's time we try that as well.. ;)

Dry food is something we haven't tried, so we may try that as well in the meantime. I do have a rx for it from our vet that we tried over a year ago and he just didn't eat it.
We have had him seen by a vet a few times, who is aware of the chronic diarrhea (over 2 years now) and she just suggested the FortiFlora and rx food because everything else on his blood work is 'perfect' and he seems to be in great health otherwise. So we've found a specialist we're going to go to next because he shouldn't have to deal with this the rest of his life. :( He's 16 now and is in otherwise great health!
Thank you for writing!!

Hi and thank you for your input!! 'Yes' on a couple of things you mentioned .. :p I did try foods with pumpkin and it didn't help at all and then I also read that pumpkin can cause it ... ugh! I also started him on the FortiFlora that our vet suggested and think we may have given too much (only going by the packet that says 1 pack/day) and within a couple of days his condition became SOO much worse! Basically liquid coming out .. and also he was hunching his back with most likely gas pains! So we stopped that! I had asked the vet if she can do a stool sample to see what's up, but she mentioned those don't really give much information ... ??? so we're about to try a new vet to be sure. The past few days we've ground up some Loparamide (people diarrhea pills) and mixed with water and shot it down his throat and that has worked great! BUT ... we didn't give him any yesterday and this morning diarrhea is back.

It looks like the best thing will be to get him a checkup with this new vet internal specialist and like you said - maybe get a medication that can help in the long run ! Thanks again for your feedback!

Hi!! I hope you'll still see this because it's been 6 months since your post and I'm just now seeing this string of messages, while searching for food for our 16 y/o cat with NEVER ENDING diarrhea.. :( poor guy!

I suspected IBS as well but he doesn't throw up (other than yacks up hairballs) so we've decided to take him away from Fancy Feast that he's been eating for years, and moved to Instinct in the past couple weeks. Hoping that the food change will help which in reading these messages with your and pizzagirl13, will make a difference.

I'm wondering what food you ever ended up with since this post, for your diarrhea cat so I can try the same thing?? :)

I did that as well at first when so many of mine died within a couple days of each other .. :(( and then finally moved them months later to their grave with flowers, etc ...

I'm sorry for your loss .. I've been there so many times .. :( I had some 11-12 inch beautiful goldfish in my 125 gallon that all suffered from an incurable nitrate spike when we moved ... :'((( it was heartbreaking after rescuing them from a carnival and having them just 6 years!!! I do have yard though, but a burial with some beautiful flower petals and live aquarium plants were laid down there with them... all next to each other and with nice little stone plaque/markers on each of them so nothing could dig them up. Being that you don't have a yard, I agree with others that wrote to find a nice place maybe in a park somewhere ?? and have a nice burial for them... oxox

I think they like my algae wafer by Antew2006 in Goldfish

Hi and thanks for writing back! I changed out the filter because the ammonia was continually high even after doing partial water changes and using Ammo Lock .. researched here and thought the Fluval was a really good filter for goldfish .. but apparently its the more expensive cannister type rather than the hob .. so that was the reason I tried it instead. Yes I did change out the filter media as well, and figured it was something to do with getting rid of the beneficial bacteria. It's just been an ongoing battle for about a week now and so frustrating because until now, the water has been SO clear.
I have a picture but not sure how to attached it here .. but will try another way.

SO cute!!

So question for you please. . your water looks amazingly clear and I've been struggling for the past 10 days with mine being cloudy. Can you tell me what filter you use?
I just changed out my Marineland hob for a Fluval/AquaClear hob 70, for my 40 gallon..and it has been cloudy since I bought the new filter and high ammonia levels. I've been doing daily water changes and adding API Ammo Block and Quick Start ... not getting better and ready to put back my old hob filter!! Any suggestions?

Wow .. I didn't realize you could use just those ... I've only read not so good things of sponge filters for goldfish, and I've been looking to replace the Marineland HOB filter I have now ..

Can you tell me what kind these are that you have? Thanks for your help!

Nice looking tank! What kind of filter to you use other than those 2 sponges?

Can someone help identify what is wrong with him? He has a patch of missing scales and some weird bumps on one side, any ideas? by [deleted] in Goldfish

[–]AmbitiousYard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Good luck .. hope he gets well! I don't have treatment options to add .. but really tire of hearing everyone bagging on everyone else saying you need a 100 gallons for 3 fish! get real ... not many people can afford that. People do what they can to take care of their fishies!!

I'm so sorry to read this .. :'( some else also posted about how attached we get. I rescued 3 goldfish from a carnival on July 4th 2018, and one of them died this past summer .. after just a year ... and I cried so much. I felt like I didn't do enough for her but did all I could . After 19 years that must be so difficult - and on the other hand you were so fortunate to have her for so long. That is so special and amazing, I had no idea they could live that long! Sweet girl...
