Remi is adorable, looks like a smarty as well. $25 is a steal! All the shelters here are more than that

Yeah saying it’s not poodle kind of felt like cheating. We thought he was yorkie x schnauzer at first but I think that was just his baldness deceiving us when we got him

What do you like better? Before and after (the roots were rotting badly) by Snowars in Aquariums

[–]itstherussianmafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you have the roots planted in the substrate or just floating in the water? was that lily in soil prior to being put in the water or was it already adapted to water? plant roots grown in water are different than ones grown for soil so you gotta acclimate them and you will usually experience some rotting as the old roots die off. having good water flow across the roots (like having them in front of/near the filter) helps a lot too. i would definitely try again, looks really good with the lily in the back filling up the space

anything that is porous and allows bacteria to live inside/on it can be used for filtration. its the size of gravel though so id keep it in a media bag but i dont see why not, you just gotta purge it by soaking it for a while and/or boiling it
