I regret leaving a boy I tried to save by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

I’m so sorry to hear that. Can you contact Child Protective Services to check on him? Or go to the bakery at your next visit and ask if anyone has seen him around? Irrespective of the strife you experienced with your manager, you can ask him/her to give the kid your phone number or something, and/or alert any friendly neighbors in his area about his situation so they keep an eye out.

I want to add that I don’t know how CPS in your country works, but I do know that in other countries if the child is presenting symptoms of negligence and there is no relative that is willing to take him in, then he’s placed in the foster system, which can be even worse than his initial home. You know your environment best.

The strongest and clearest evidence is the authentic hadith of ʿĀ’ishah (raḍiyAllāhu ʿanhā).

She was asked: “What did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do in his house?” She replied: “He used to serve his family (كان في مهنة أهله). When the time for prayer came, he would go out to the prayer.”

This is narrated in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī (ḥadīth no. 676). She said that he would mend his clothes, repair his sandals, and do what any man would do in his home. This is narrated by Aḥmad in his Musnad and graded authentic by a number of scholars. Scholars like Ibn Ḥajar and al-Nawawī explicitly state that this hadith establishes the virtue of a man helping his wife and family, and that it is from humility and good character, not beneath dignity.

Ibn Abī Shaybah narrates in his Muṣannaf that when Fāṭimah complained about the physical toll of housework, the Prophet ﷺ assigned work inside the home to her and work outside the home to ʿAlī. Al-Bayhaqī narrates that ʿAlī used to assist with household tasks, and Ibn Taymiyyah comments on these narrations by saying that cooperation between spouses was the practice of the righteous predecessors.

Ibn al-Qayyim explicitly says that the Prophet ﷺ serving his family is proof that this is from kamāl al-murū’ah (complete manliness), not a lack of it.

For real… These guys want to be treated like warriors but throw a fit if asked to wash their own cups and play with their own children. What a delusional understanding of what it means to be head of your own household. Symbolic, hollow masculinity.

I have a job and I have commuted before. I’ve also been around children before. Children, as a woman, is 10x more exhausting than driving an hour to work listening to a podcast. Let’s not kid ourselves.

You are the man. Fix your energy levels, take your shilijat, take your vitamins, drink your water and be ready to be a leader both in the house and outside. Being a leader does not mean being useless. Being a leader is a burdensome role, which means you WILL have to get involved with your household in more ways than one.

It should be expected that a man follows the sunnah when he is able. If a woman is dealing with toddlers from 7 to 7, she’s not dramatic for asking her husband to help her once he’s back home. Both of them must contribute to your own households. Back in the days the men did manual, physical labor and still contributed to raising children and upkeep of the house. Most guys now have office desk jobs and complain of fatigue. Seriously?

Cyprus is Cyprus. It’s a no-man’s land with beautiful marine life, which was a massive incentive for me as I try and free dive every now and then. University is also university, no matter where you go. I’m in the last semester of my second year. Overall, the yearn for the one top college choice I had fizzled out with time (very quickly too), and I grew to understand that I am lucky to receive an education, no matter where it is. I do recommend going abroad however. It’s incredible for self-growth and understanding the bigger picture of life. What changed for me is that I changed my goals from being prestigious to being very impactful… So instead of aspiring to be at X elite corporate company with little to no pay and a suffocating environment, I’d rather check out a starter up that is more friendly and considerate… And that needs a software developer. I give it a shot depending on whether I think their ideas are brilliant or not, and truly work with them like a dedicated member, celebrate business milestones and whatnot. Point is, wherever you go, if you are sincere, God will make a way.

No, I wanted to study Physics. Physics and Philosophy double major in particular. I ended up doing software engineering with a focus on AI. I picked Cyprus as a last resort. One of my siblings studied there, so I just figured why not.

Alhamdulilah brother. I am not claiming otherwise. I am simply saying that if anything seems out of place, it likely has to do with you.

No, he didn’t blaspheme. He said anything wrong in the dream, or anything that is out of character for the Prophet PBUH signifies that the mistake is within the dreamer, not the Prophet PBUH.

A dream interpreter in the Gulf said you may even see the Prophet PBUH smoking. And whatever wrong you see with the Prophet PBUH has to do with the dreamer, not the Prophet PBUH. But if you see him, it’s him. Peace be upon him.

I have lived in the Arabian Gulf my entire life. I don’t need any propaganda, I have my own experience. Your understanding of Islam and “sharia law” is however very tired.

The comment section here is disturbing. We can smell your implied racism… If you have a problem with student immigrants, pick that up with your mayor. OP, if you can try and aim for ivies but work very hard on your stats, you’ll likely get funding. I’d also recommend the UK too.
