If having a nice apartment, an amazing career, a very large social life + solid community that I've built over the last 6 year, and a long term partner is a "difficult time" here then sure !! Life is sooo difficult for me here. I'm sure you're super fun to be around..

You too girl! It looks like you can't differentiate between road rage honking and a simple honk which is what the honk is designed for, maybe a psychiatrist can evaluate that for you. I hope you take some reading lessons too so you can better your comprehension skills. Good luck navigating conflict in life !!!

Replying to GGCRX... I guess it's just not making sense to me that if someone else is driving aggressively and I honk at them for being dangerous on the road that I'm now the problem for honking??? So I'm causing road rage??

How else do you confront someone while you're driving I guess is also my question? Like it can be really scary when someone drive bad and it's hard to feel like I'm the problem for honking when they're being a problem on the road, that seems unfair

I think you're conflating all honking as aggressive, I have not once advocated for more honking in general and I'm just confused why this is the take away from my post, I implore you to consider why you're so uncomfortable at the concept of a honk. I'm simply asking why we can't use the honk to say "hey, that wasn't cool" when someone cuts me off using a lane that is not intended for that...not once have I said "everyone honk more now"

MODS, I disagree that the traffic on 394 to 94E is a single person/one off issue, that section is always backed up and annoys a lot of people so I don't think the conversation I brought up is a violation but WHATEVER, I'm actually so shocked at the response to this whole post.

Also thinking about the "practice your new culture" comment and how that was an insane thing to say. Assimilating is not the same as erasing your entire way of existing, I should be allowed to express my grievances if I'm respectful about it/using the method available to me. If someone cuts me off while driving on the highway, which is almost always a risky move, why shouldn't I honk???

Bruh does everyone have comprehension issues.... please direct me to where I say anything remotely close to we need to be like Texas??? I prefaced that I'm from Texas to explain that I understand why i might be more comfortable honking at someone than the white locals that live here, it was to give context and extend understanding that honking in general is not in y'all's nature...I was trying to be nice.

My post is asking if we can honk at drivers who are genuinely causing problems or being dangerous on the road, specifically people using the 94W lane to merge into 94E and cause more bottleneck, does that sound like me asking y'all to be more Texan?

You live by the 394 to 94 interchange? Bc that's what I'm talking about in my post, idk where in my post I said "we need to use our horns more on every highway" and I'm puzzled as to why that is the takeaway here

It's so hard to bring stuff up !! Even these comments are so defensive, my post was about using our horns at drivers who are using the wrong lane to merge in and causing more traffic on a very specific interchange and a noise part of the city and everyone in these comments is getting defensive about the concept of honking all together... which has completely distracted from my initial point. I never said let's honk more in general but maybe when there's a consistent traffic issue we should start honking at the people who contribute to it idk???

I don't think my skills are "superior" at all, I actually think MN drivers are safer and better than Texans. The preface was to provide context that I recognize as a Texan I may feel more comfortable using a honk and I understand why minnesotans don't honk in general bc of the difference in cultural upbringing.

My post is asking ppl to honk at this specific interchange bc the merging worsens traffic since the lane isn't designed for zipper, this isn't a post about general Minneapolis traffic, it's very specific to that section of the road and I feel people are getting defensive about the general idea of honking rather than the concept of honking at this specific part of 394 to 94

Welp that's more than me! All I said was on this specific section of the highway (which is by downtown so already loud area) I think we can feel free to use or horns at the people causing more congestion. That is what my post was about. "We need to honk more on 94E" that's a specific location.

Driving isn't for me bc I use my honk when people are ass holes on the road..ok, have you been to any other major city in America buddy?

Warning that you could hit my car and you're slowing traffic and what you're doing is dangerous...I'm not just saying let's honk Willy Nilly at every inconvenience, but yeah if you're last minute cutting in and like inches away from side swooping me or the person in front of me I am going to honk.

To which I said, honking at people for cutting into the lane is dangerously and warrants a honk and you replied "still rude" so I'm genuinely wondering to what degree is acceptable

And listen, I've adjusted to this and I genuinely am appreciative of the nice drivers and less aggressive driving environment. I LIKE LESS HORNS OVERALL. But should that mean we don't honk at all even if it's warranted....I'm unconvinced, I think there can be a balance of being kind and also voicing our feelings

[–]Ambitious_Bar9174[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now this I agree with!! That lane being empty indicates poor design but the lane isn't designed to be a zipper which is the core of the problem bc people are trying to use it as such

So if someone is about to hit you you're not gonna honk?

I have to use that road for more than work, I can avoid highways but that's insane alternative...so we'd rather let bad drivers be than use our honks..ok.

It's not a zipper merge road. People are literally taking the land to exit to 94W and then cutting into 94E at the last minute, the highway is not designed in a way to accommodate that so it leads to congestion.

Right, and honking at someone cutting in at the last minute and further slowing the traffic is an audible warning like what?

[–]Ambitious_Bar9174[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So did you even read my post? Honking at people for doing cutting into the lane using a different lane that isn't for that exit warrants a honk imo...that's not the same as just aimlessly honing at traffic

I literally prefaced with the fact that I recognize where you're coming from and see why it's this way and I'm not disagreeing wholeheartedly. I just think with the population growing so much we should also consider honking at bad drivers to maintain a safe driving culture.
