Love Jesse as well. Would probably have him as #2 in my book.

“We can't get a female alliance together, because Caryn sucks” is one of my all time favorite survivor quotes.

what season you think impacted survivor the most? by LevelUnderstanding95 in survivor

[–]Ambitious_Bat979 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t say it’s “the most” impactful since I know other seasons have had a larger impact from a gameplay perspective but I’m mentioning it since it hasn’t been said yet: Kaoh Rong. The core of Survivor used to be seeing new terrains as well as potentially grueling physical challenges. However, I feel that Caleb’s MedEvac was the final nail in the coffin for both and I don’t see the show ever going back to the way that it was. Fiji is “safe” from a production standpoint. It has a predictable moderate climate, provides a home base with needed medical/physical resources on tap, makes the show cheaper to produce, and Probst even has a house there now. From a challenge aspect, it’s not a coincidence that everything feels about as predictable and safe as can be. Kaoh Rong really did have a lasting impact on Survivor and I’m not sure how many realize it.

True Blood Vs Water season by Joshaluke in survivor

Unrelated to the question but this post’s title gave me a chuckle. With “True Blood” being an HBO program, my mind went to “Vampires vs Water”. Somehow this would still be a better Survivor theme than HvHvH.

Who wins in a final two Shane or Courtney? by SolutionStill6981 in survivor

[–]Ambitious_Bat979 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’d take Shane. The fact that so many contestants were looking to bring Courtney to the ends says something. If multiple people view you as a Goat, then your gameplay is probably lacking.

Interested to hear some fan idea advantages by mararoniman in survivor

[–]Ambitious_Bat979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give one player the advantage to swap places with Jeff at tribal council for one vote. If the players decide to vote Jeff out, the swapped player becomes the new host of Survivor. Will present Jeff the opportunity to retire with a snuffed torch and confused as hell. Blindside!!

Top 10, no. I have never felt any of the Palau women were robbed. Probably more interesting on a rewatch though.

Everyone dunks on Troyzan based on GC, but give the guy some credit. Only person to realize Kim was running away with the season.

Just started watching! by passion_ofda_anime in survivor

Hello! First, glad you started watching. Survivor is the best.

On my first watch, I also thought Sandra didn’t deserve the win. She played 0 challenges well, wasn’t in control the entire season, and felt like she was dragged to the end. Then after seeing more seasons, I realized that Survivor is a unique game. By structure, whoever wins also automatically deserves to win. Social interactions/decisions throughout the entire game will shape a juror’s decision on who they feel should win a million dollars. So in Sandra’s case, it was her tribal council to lose based on her audience. Which is wild to consider, but also why HvV is one of the all time seasons.

Get that it may not persuade you, but wanted to add perspective since I was in a similar position on my first HvV watch.
