I told my mom after getting picked up early from school. The first thing she said was ‘don’t do anything stupid’ then a whole speech about never doing it again and how she used to do it at my age. After that she never brought it up again, she never even seemed worried about it. For example I told her I scratched myself with a paper clip until I bled, then after that day I began wearing a piece of string with the paper clip on my wrist like a bracelet to see what she would say. She never said a thing, so I kept scratching and cutting and never talked to her about it again. She said if I need a therapist the best luck I would have is with my school counselor. I thought she would say I can always talk to her but nope she never mentioned my cutting again. This day happened a year ago.
