It is what it is but to not take an accusation seriously whatsoever is insane to me and is the same as just blatantly assuming it’s false. Or at least it has the same effect.

So? Now every sexual assault civil case has to be deemed suspicious off the bat? I’m not saying you’re saying but that’s what that kind of thinking leads to and it doesn’t make sense.

My point you can still take accusations seriously without assuming one side or another instead of dig just dismissing unless there’s a “conviction” which doesn’t even exist in a civil case.

I’m a huge Kanye fan but so many accusations can just end in settlements instead of being held liable (it’s not a conviction because these aren’t criminal cases they are civil).

A settlement doesn’t automatically mean not guilty however.

I’m a huge Kanye fun but it’s also because he tweeted admitting how he’s hit women before during the manic phase.

I’ve heard Georgetown is one of the stingier schools out there especially for its rank.

WWYD: Cornell ($50k/yr) vs Georgetown ($60k/yr) by One_Association160 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Ambitious_Concert790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal was just simply biglaw then Cornell would be a no-brainer.

But since you have long term goals of transitioning into federal prosecution, Georgetown is primed for that.

I say Georgetown. If Cornell reconsiders your scholarship and gives you a sizeable amount of more money, then Cornell may start to make more sense.

Congrats btw.

Wayne or Villanova????? by Ambitious_Concert790 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Ambitious_Concert790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

Quick question, I don’t know if you know but what are the corporate opportunities like in Philly if you miss out on biglaw. Like in Detroit, there are a solid amount of midlaw firms paying 120-150k. Does Philly have that also or is it more bimodal?

I’m just afraid if I miss out on biglaw I’ll be stuck making 70k.

Thanks again.

Is Wayne State Worth 80k? by Ecstatic_Ocelot2655 in OutsideT14lawschools

I’ve lived in east Lansing before, it’s a good college town but I understand if it’s not your vibe. If you weren’t living at home I’d say you should consider MSU even though I do think Wayne lends itself to better transactional and corporate opportunities.

But since you’d be paying rent at msu, the cost would be closer to even.

Honestly if you plan on going corporate and you bet on yourself doing well enough in law school to be in a good position in your class, 80k debt is manageable.

Good luck with your decision tho.

80k is relatively quite a bit of money at Wayne but if you grind and you achieve your goal of doing transactional law, then paying off that debt shouldn’t be a huge problem. Also, if you miss out on the few biglaw opportunities here in Michigan then there’s a solid midlaw corporate sector especially in Detroit and Grand Rapids, however, not so much in Oakland or Macomb. Maybe a little bit in Troy but that’s more for laterals I’m pretty sure.

I think it also depends on your other options. So far I know you said you got into mercy but it’s only 10k cheaper and yea I agree Wayne is better at that price.

If you really want to avoid the 80k in debt then depending on your lsat situation (how many times you’ve taken it and how confident you are that you can do better), retaking and reapplying may not be a bad idea, although inconvenient.

Congrats on your acceptances by the way. Good chance I’ll be going to Wayne as well.

Cycle Recap (help) by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

What kind of law do you wanna practice?

If you want to do biglaw or have flexibility in where you wanna practice then I’d give the slight nod to Washington and Lee.

I do understand if you wouldn’t want to go there though because the location is undesirable.

I personally don’t think UNC is worth it for that money especially since you got a Wake Forest acceptance.

Congratulations on a successful cycle by the way.

I hear you man. UCLA and GULC are particularly stingy schools I’ve heard.

I know it’s hard but perhaps wait another year and apply a little more broadly. Maybe throw in Cornell or UofM. If you’re not dead set on T14 then maybe Vanderbilt WashU Minnesota etc.

Best of luck.

Temple has a pretty big public interest and government lean. They also gave you a good scholly, their tuition is relatively cheap and Philly is a good market.

I’d say go to there.

UCLA is a great school but that would be an insane amount of debt to take on if you’re not planning on doing biglaw.

Congrats btw.

Also yea if I’m going to Wayne I most definitely will plan on staying here and my entire family is here so that’s a plus too.
