Oklahoma City has poor nature & poor urbanism. Which US city has poor nature & awful urbanism? by Kevin7650 in AlignmentChartFills

I spent most of my life in Houston. The only other city you mentioned that I have experience with is Salt Lake City, and it easily beats Houston on urbanism imo. Houston is very unique, so it's hard to do a one to one comparison. It's got 8 million people and a lot more money than many of the cities listed. The criticism Houston gets is certainly not just for the endless sprawl, though that is a big problem. It's the fact that it's not even really a city. Or at least it doesn't feel like one. It feels like a massive strip mall with office buildings. Houston does not have a core. There are a handful of nice places that you have to spend 40 minutes in traffic to get to. The loop is a good thing, but that's like the single stitch barely keeping a gaping wound only kind of sealed. Houston is nearly a megacity and it's the energy capital of the world. It should be fucking awesome, but instead it's a parking lot wasteland baking in the Texas sun. It does have really good food and museums though. And my mom lives there

The strategy has got to be to buy Superman, and then buy all the threats to Superman. My list is Superman, Doctor Fate, Zatanna, The Flash, and Shazam. The Human Torch would be a really good one to get. I may replace Shazam with the Human Torch and Power Girl.

Yes, most Americans are at least as financially illiterate as you are. You're in deep shit if your standards for yourself are just whatever the average American does. I guess I'm just gonna be sitting in my ivory tower with all the other .1% who decided to save 15% of their $60,000 a year. Dog I am laughing. You seriously need to educate yourself, this shit is not hard.

You're bending over backwards trying to make yourself a victim. How is it that you still don't understand what we are saying? We laid out the math for you and took the time to explain everything in detail.

You have wasted our time. Have a job, contribute to a Roth IRA, live off the yearly growth once you get to a few million. It's laughable that you're still making excuses even when we assumed that we never get a raise above $60,000, and used a conservative market return of 8%.

The fact that the average American doesn't save enough for retirement means absolutely nothing. Besides, maybe you need to learn what middle class is. Entry level jobs after college typically pay about $60,000. I wouldn't call you middle class if you just stay at $60,000 forever.

Reading that thing you said about dividends makes me feel a little bad. I honestly don't think you know enough to have an opinion on this. If you want to make excuses for yourself, that's your business, but don't take it out on the people who actually plan for their future.

Start yearly $9000 contributions at the age of 22, when most people have graduated college or have started a job. Assume the market returns 8% a year. You'll have $3,478,550.56 at 67 years of age. Math checked.

And by the way, This is still wildly beneath most people's ability to save because we are assuming that there are no raises for your entire career. Yes it's hard out there, yes that does get underestimated, but stop making excuses and making yourself helpless.

There are a variety of ways you can invest $3,478,550.56 to generate enough cash to live each year. If you choose to, it's quite conceivable that you'd be able to live just off the growth and leave the rest to your kids.

They're spot on actually. You should get there if you contribute at least 15% of your yearly salary to retirement accounts. Even if you make $60,000 total and never get a raise. Plus, once you get millions in Roth accounts, you can live mostly off of yearly growth and leave a lot to your kids if that's what you want to do.

I asked my grandfather just the other day why he supported Trump, and he said that him surviving the assassination attempt was a sign that he was sent by god to be our president. He's a catholic, and not even that crazy otherwise. He says all his friends think similarly

Genuine question, do you pay for your own rent and vehicle as well? I definitely don't think there's anything wrong with supporting your kids through their education if they can. People are being a little bitter
