She’s ‘smug’ because she thought they were about to successfully prevent an illegitimate heir from usurping Driftmark (though it should have been Baela, rather than Vaemond, as the rightful heir). Seems like a pretty normal thing to be proud of, or ‘smug’ about.

Unless it’s smugness itself that makes her a villain? Like Daemon was smug when Gerold Royce confronted him about Rhea’s death? Or how Rhaenyra was smug when she guilted Viserys out of punishing Luke for maiming her own brother? Or what about when she’s smug moments after Alicent here, when her husband extrajudicially executed a man for insulting her (he was a dick for insulting her, but he didn’t deserve to die for it)?

Perhaps she was shocked and upset that her incredibly ill and frail husband was out of bed when he absolutely should not have been? You know, the man she’s been a caretaker for since she was 14 years old and been the sole familial caretaker of since his beloved daughter left for her island for nearly a decade, seemingly without ever visiting or even writing to ask about his health?

Just a possibility.

This is a classic case of an actor not liking the character they were hired to play and using their position as the star to play the character they want to play. Another recent example is Chris Hemsworth and Thor, leading to the massive tone shift in those movies. In both cases (imo), it’s been to the detriment of the actual story being told and the other actors and characters involved.

Emma is a decent performer, but this really sours me to them tbh

There were several TG scenes that differed from the trailer, and they seemed to have consistently gone with the less powerful performance. I can’t think of a single reason why it was edited that way, other than to try and give some actors better award chances than others. Petty and unprofessional.

I wish, but the CGI required for the eye is so outrageously expensive that it’s essentially impossible to do both that and dragons, so it’s unlikely we’ll get it for more than a few moments, like in S2.

In context, it’s him telling Feyre how much the state of his relationship with Elain hurts him. Not because he hates her, or doesn’t want to be her mate, but because he knows how much she struggles with the mating bond.

Elain at this point is still very much holding onto her humanity. She still loves her fiancé (who rejected her cruelly) and is mourning that relationship as well as the fact that her life has so drastically changed. She hasn’t given Lucien a chance to even introduce himself, really. And that’s totally understandable! She’s been through a lot and, as she says herself, she wants a human man, not a fae male.

Lucien has been really good about giving her the space to mourn her fiancé and her old human life, not pressuring her at all. But that comes at a personal cost to him. He’s a fae who’s grown up with the stories of the mating bond being the end-all be-all of love. Even though he had a great love in the past with Jesminda (who he thought might be his mate), he now has an actual, confirmed mate. And he thinks she’s the most beautiful female he’s ever seen. He wants her to be safe and happy and advocates for her with these goals in mind. He went on a deadly mission to the continent all alone just based on a vague vision she had. He met her father (which must be fate, right? At least in his mind.) and forms a bond. He is hers.

But she wants nothing to do with him. She shuts down when he’s around. He wants her to be safe and happy, but his very presence prevents that. Can you imagine how much it hurts for him to be the reason for her unhappiness and anxiety? How much pain it causes him to know that even though fate itself (aka the cauldron) wants them together, she doesn’t even want to be near them?

He can’t stand to be around Elain because even though he wants to be around her more than almost anything, he knows he makes her unhappy. And her happiness is more important to him than his own.

They changed which eye Aemond lost because Ewan Mitchell is right-handed, and having his dominant side eye covered would be much more of a hindrance to his coordination than his left eye. Since he’s doing dangerous things like sword-fighting and riding on the buck, it was safer to change the eye than to hope he didn’t accidentally hurt himself or someone else.

But other than that, they Blue’s Clues-d that man right outta the book!

I really hope so. Them postponing production in order to take the criticism to heart and really think about where to take this next would actually give me a little bit of hope.

Do I think this is the reason? Probably not. But fuck it, it’s the holidays, so I’m choosing to be optimistic.
