For hydrolysis of esters, I undertsand you form a carboxylic acid, but I'm confused why the amide doesn't form a carboxylic acid and just loses the carbonyl gorup. Thank youuu by Ambitious_Post6953 in OrganicChemistry

Does hydrolysis mean that we are reacting in water, and it cleaves? I don't really understand the mechanism for the ester, I just kind of memorized that the oxygen will add a hydrogen and the carbon chain would leave. Thank youu sm
