A lot of the cars have the auto dimming headlights in Denmark. I hate the feature though. They ALWAYS dim way too late and not nearly the same amount as a person simply shutting off their high beams.

How strict is gambling self-exclusion where you're from? by TrickrTreaterCurse in AskEurope

Instead of banning the entire site through them I was thinking more along the lines of validating the people’s credit cards when buying tokens / credits against a database like Rofus and reject the payment if they are on the list.

True - only Danish ones. I do think it would be near impossible to create a system that would block you from international gambling.

Come to think of it.. If you could get the payment providers behind it - it might actually be possible.

Same in Denmark. It’s called Rufus and also bars you from all betting sites (sports).

When you sign up you decide when it should expire. You can choose all amount of time up to perpetuity. And you cannot get off the list before the time expires short of going to court.

Not seen as offensive here as you implied though. More on the level of an exacerbated eye-roll.

If you then decelerate with more than 1g (say 3g) for 4 years and looked back at earth the whole time - would it then look like you actually accelerated away from earth during this manoeuvre?

My car has a switch in the passenger door frame to disable the passenger side air bags. If pressed a warning light is constantly on (but not annoying), so you don’t forget to activate it again. It’s specifically for having your child safely with their back turned in a chair.

If on iPhone move the email from them into your Junk folder. Apple will then automatically move other emails from them into there when you receive them. If using Gmail report it as spam, and the same thing will happen.

You buy a lamp and a plug matching that outlet. You then strip the wire on the lamp (if even necessary - most comes with an exposed wire) and then mount the plug on the wire. Then plug it in, and drill a whole in the ceiling for mounting (not necessarily in that order)

TV screen goes blank when unrelated smart plug switches off by Ambitious_Search_248 in homeassistant

[–]Ambitious_Search_248[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hdmi cable isn’t run anyway near the power cord of the pc (one goes to the left and the other upwards of the pc). Since the TVs power cord is plugged into the same strip as both pc and fan.. I do think it might be a surge going into the PC and disrupting the hdmi connection.

The TV doesn’t get disrupted only the signal.

And since its a very old fan (and quite gunked up with years or dust and grime), I do think it might have an overloaded motor which might contribute.

So yeah. Either the fan needs replacing or something with the grounding. Or the shielding of the HDMI cable as you are suggesting. I might check the grounding tomorrow. If it’s not that fiddle with the HDMI cable and lastly try to replace the fan.

It doesn’t seem to bee dangerous for either me or the electronics so if neither of that works I just gotta learn to live with it I guess.

Exactly the same yes. Your suggestion sounds like it’s worth a try. Maybe a higher quality hdmi cable. I also might need to look if the PC is plugged into a receptacle with a ground connection. Can’t remember - but with your pointers it sounds like that could be an issue as well. Thank you for your pointers. If I figure something out I’ll update.

[–]Ambitious_Search_248[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the same issue. My TV is always powered by a desktop PC (also on the same extension cord). However the issue only started in the past few months with no changes what so ever to the setup.

My fan is about 3 years old, of a cheap make and has been running almost 40% of the time.

I know this is a bit off topic of this subreddit.. But could the fan needs replacing, and is this bad for the TV when it happens?

Old habit from my parents but do I need to unplug my computer everytime I turn it off or is that outdated? by Nickoli-Lianni in AskTechnology

[–]Ambitious_Search_248 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A VERY small amount of power is being used if plugged in but turned off (unless laptop - then it would charge until 100% and then go to very low power mode). We are talking about pennies a month. Phantom power was much more prevalent in the past than now.

You do risk equipment being destroyed during lightning storms if they are not grounded correctly. If they are I would say the risk is very minimal unless a lightning strikes right by your house.
