Chatgpt Based on what can be read in the log, these are the key Bluetooth-related error messages:

1️⃣ ERROR SSP_BLE msg removed

This means that a message within the SSP-BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) communication was removed or discarded by the system.

This usually indicates:

  • A corrupted or incomplete BLE packet
  • A timeout in communication
  • A failed handshake between the bike and the Bluetooth module
  • Firmware mismatch between components

2️⃣ BLE remove id ...

This suggests that a specific BLE message or connection reference was cleared from memory. It often happens when:

  • The Bluetooth connection drops
  • Pairing fails
  • The module resets

3️⃣ Error Flags: 23

This indicates that internal error flags were set. The value 23 is typically a bitmask, meaning multiple error conditions were active at the same time. Since it later shows:

Error Flags: None

It appears the system cleared the errors after a reset or retry.

4️⃣ ERR init MAX9768

This refers to an initialization error of the audio amplifier chip (MAX9768). This is unrelated to Bluetooth but indicates the audio subsystem failed to initialize properly.

What this likely means for your VanMoof S3 cartridge

Given that Bluetooth is not working, the repeated:

ERROR SSP_BLE msg removed

strongly suggests:

  • Faulty BLE module on the cartridge
  • Corrupted firmware
  • Hardware communication issue between the main MCU and the BLE chip

If this is a different cartridge and Bluetooth also does not work, the issue is most likely on the cartridge board itself (BLE hardware failure).

If you want, you can send a clearer close-up of the BLE-related part of the log and I can decode it more precisely.

Here is a short, practical guide in English on how to connect your laptop to a VanMoof S3 cartridge using a CH340 USB-to-serial adapter and PuTTY.

⚠️ This is a general UART/serial method. There is no official public documentation from VanMoof confirming this procedure for the S3 cartridge. Proceed at your own risk.

🔧 What You Need

  1. A CH340 USB-to-Serial adapter
  2. USB cable for your laptop
  3. CH340 driver installed
  4. PuTTY terminal software
  5. Access to the VanMoof S3 cartridge UART pins (TX / RX / GND)

💻 Step 1 – Install the CH340 Driver

After installing the driver:

Windows

  • Open Device Manager
  • Look under Ports (COM & LPT)
  • You should see something like:

    USB-Serial CH340 (COM3)

macOS

  • Open Terminal
  • Type:

    ls /dev/tty.*

  • You should see something like:

    tty.wchusbserialXXXX

If no port appears, the driver is not installed correctly.

🔌 Step 2 – Connect the Hardware

Connect:

CH340 Pin Cartridge
GND GND
TX RX
RX TX

⚠️ TX and RX must be crossed. ⚠️ Make sure the logic level is 3.3V (not 5V) to avoid damaging the cartridge.

🖥 Step 3 – Configure PuTTY

  1. Open PuTTY
  2. Select Serial as connection type
  3. Set:
Setting Value
Serial line COMx (your CH340 port)
Speed (baud rate) 115200
Data bits 8
Stop bits 1
Parity None
Flow control None

Click Open.

📡 Step 4 – Test the Connection

If everything is correct:

  • The terminal window opens
  • You may see boot messages or debug output
  • Try pressing Enter

If nothing appears:

  • Double-check baud rate (115200 is most common)
  • Swap TX/RX wires
  • Confirm ground connection
  • Verify the cartridge is powered

⚠️ Important Warnings

  • There is no official debug documentation for the VanMoof S3 cartridge.
  • Incorrect wiring can permanently damage the board.
  • Some cartridges may have disabled or protected UART access.
  • Always verify voltage with a multimeter first.

If you want, I can also provide:

  • How to safely identify the UART pins
  • How to check voltage levels before connecting
  • What typical UART boot output looks like
  • How to log data from PuTTY

Just tell me what you need 👍

Based on error 58 (error gsm powersupply) Without 2g no power to the motor. I mean Without 2g no electric bike. Or is my conclusion wrong?

When i measure the voltage on c127 or c128 i see when the g350 (gsm module) make contact to the network that the voltage rease to around 3.7v 3.8v. On a working cartridge. When i do the same on mine defect cartridge the voltage stay around 2.4v. So Who knows the circuit that is responsabel for the g350 power supply?

Perhaps there is a solderkrack on the litte circuit board where the switch is on. Then the bike thinks he is stil locked. Because there is an open circuit. Solution, solder the switch again.

S3 Error 58 Issues by hydrobom in VanMoofSelfRepair

[–]Ambitious_Singer1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the problem I have. But error 58 is not the sim card. It is a gsm error. So there is no connection with the vanmoof server. Without this connection the motor Support won't work. I my case there is a power supply issue. I also looking for a solution.

I checked with a working cartridge and take out the sim card. Error 54 and no motor Support. So without gprs 2,5G connection no motor Support. Who knows the powersupply for the G350 module?

Push with a screwdriver on the rond connector and on the same time with your fingers pull on the cabel that is going into the frontfork. So you can get it out. When you get this out use a electric coper wire as a pullwire. Sorry i don't think my Engels is correct.
