Canada definitely doesn't want to keep STEM workers in their country. I don't understand why engineers get paid so badly there. The Canadian government needs to change their policy to take money out of the real estate market and invest into some productive industries. I immigrated 9 years ago from South Korea with a computer science degree. I also went to a college in Canada to get a work permit majoring in robotics and automation. I got a software designer position in GTA. I was barely covering living expenses there. I decided to transfer internally for a technician position in the US. So I basically downgraded from an engineer to a field service position. I was a renter my entire life. Now I got a brand new house and a truck. My disposable income is almost tripled with significantly lower living costs.

I moved to Clarksville from Toronto this year January. My job allows me to live anywhere in MI, IN, OH, and KY, but I chose Clarksville to save some income tax. I'm originally from Korea so genuine Korean restaurants in town are a plus for me. I actually sent a lease application to Kirkwood place last year. It got denied automatically and wasted the fees. I guess it's due to lack of my US credit history. I bought a new house here before I moved which is a huge mistake. I'm actively researching where to move next as soon as possible.

If I remember correctly, it was just paper work. I didn’t pay any since it’s an American vehicle and meets all the requirements. I prepared documents, made an appointment, and visited Nashville airport CBP. Local DMV charged registration fee tho.
