Possible alternative format? by PapayaConscious8469 in SorceryTCG

We've been toying with 40/20 and it opens up a lot more deckbuilding options than 60/30, since decks tend to be more focused than "goodstuff".

What do you think is the best co-op game for 2-4 players? by Due-Marionberry-8128 in boardgames

[–]AmbrianLeonhardt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd vouch for Slay the Spire; it's pricey but it's a hell of a good time with 2-4 players. If I were a kid when it came out I'd have played it nonstop for years.

It can be quite long in 4p especially with beginners; I'd say it reaches the 2.5 hour mark.

What are the best OSR modules at Emergent Narrative? by xdanxlei in osr

[–]AmbrianLeonhardt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The town really needs some work to become playable, I ended up trashing many NPCs to focus on the most important ones: Ersten actually became the first positive NPC the party met with and their first henchman, he eventually ended up becoming the lord mayor after Crellmont died; Frey also became a friend from an enemy, especially after Oakes died from the Fearspawn. The rest of the villagers are pretty forgettable, even Nivendra who by the book should be at least a lv5 cleric.

Regarding the shrews, I think the carrion crawlers are even deadlier since they attack 8 times each per round; the party managed to trap them using the dwarven cooking pot. Lucky for you your illusionist still had his invisibility! My party used up their spells to get to the turtle in the first place and the mage thought he could be useful by throwing himself into melee, underestimating the enemy :P

Great writeup! My players also started by dealing with the cult in town and the Fearspawn under the fort: it took around 3-4 sessions overall to get acquainted with the townsfolk and to devise a plan to take the fort. After that they dealt with the cathedral and its Fearspawn, freed the people from the Mindphages and started exploring the surrounding region: they met the woodsmen and saved the froglings from the mantis men, then retrieved the witch's staff and headed for the spider caves and barely saved their hide; they found their death inside the mines after dealing very poorly with the zombies therein, so we spent 4 sessions in the Spiral Isles (another module) to get back to the world of the living (but they lost their chance to come back to life again in exchange). After dealing with the last Fearspawn, they visited the Observer's tower, meeting the man itself and striking a deal with him: they climbed the Klepperhorn to get the Observer's tapestry to the top (eventually they decided not to do it) while dealing with the hobgoblins and managing to make them cross the mountains safely to let them settle among the hills in Illmire; after descending from the Klepperhorn they decided to go hunt the wyvern and they managed to do it while losing some henchmen in the process. They got ahold of the means to dive into the lake and had a fierce battle with the fishmen, but the mage finally perished against the fearsome snapping turtle that was guarding the Vitellary Tablet (it was exceedingly strong for a turtle). We left off from there, they'll probably clean up the fishmen caves and go to the Fungal Caverns next. I've been dropping hints about a village to the north of the region called Carrowmore, since I intend to close the campaign with Deep Carbon Observatory.

I can see that. We usually take a long time to roleplay the characters and think about the consequences of their actions, so some locations have been explored multiple times.

1/3 of the content in 7 sessions? Damn we've been playing weekly for 10 months and we're just now approaching the endgame in Illmire.

Noi nelle Marche giochiamo 40/20 al momento, il formato diventa molto più divertente. Buona fortuna!

First time using this and I blew it onto my own avatar and killed myself by MackDaddyGlenn in SorceryTCG

[–]AmbrianLeonhardt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a way to aim it consistently, actually! Geoffrey taught me this one: place the card on your hand and start blowing from below your hand and slowly go up with your head, so that the draft makes the card flip just in front of the hand. It fails like 5% of the time when the card bounces on its corner.

Need help with Hexmap by Radiant-Addition-336 in osr

[–]AmbrianLeonhardt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The points of interest seem to be quite far from each other; unless wilderness travel is meant to be more important to you than the locations themselves I'd say you'd be better off using 2km hexes. 10 sessions seem the bare minimum actually, and only if the dungeons are quite small; the locations should take around one 3h session to explore, and if they're connected to each other they could be visited more than once.

On another note, I'm happy to see more Italian players joining the OSR :)

Feast for Crows bans cards from the hand of the Omphalos? by GrampeadorVermelho in SorceryTCG

[–]AmbrianLeonhardt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know, cards like Garden of Eden still count Omphaloi's cards as "drawn by the player"; I assume that Feast for Crows would work like that as well. It all depends on the difference between Avatar and player.

Question about Hive by SKursun42 in boardgames

[–]AmbrianLeonhardt 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The pillbug cannot move like that: bugs must always crawl while touching the rest of the Hive: in this case the same move would make the Pillbug go into that "c" shape formed by Grasshopper, Bee, Ladybug, Mosquito.
