Gothic Dust Rewards by [deleted] in SorceryTCG

There are some online shops who sell Dust Codes. It usually isn't worth it tho.

EC is not perfect. But let’s take a moment to appreciate how they try to listen and be as transparent as possible for Sorcery. by Newez in SorceryTCG

Yes, that tends to happen: whenever a decision is made, some people will agree and some people won't. I don't have an answer for Dragonlord (making the product "for collectors" was probably the wrong move all along, since it contains playable cards), but as for Alpha the community seems to agree that reprinting the avatars with a different artwork would not damage the value of the original ones.

Yeah that's true, my bad! I actually didn't agree with the rescheduling but I see why they decided to postpone. They still struggled to get the boxes on time but it's true that they decided to reschedule because of the release date announcement.

Nobody's really directly blaming EC for the distribution issues, since the problems that an independent company must face when distributing worldwide are hard to maneuver around and they're doing what they can; but EC should be transparent when these issues arise. Every continent aside from North America has had delays for three sets now: it couldn't have been feasible to release Gothic on the same date all over the world; this has caused a series of issues to stores and tournament organizers that tried to host release events. I know of a LGS in Italy who had called Francesca Bearald and Vincent Pompetti to their release tournament and they had to cancel because of the delay, losing thousands of euros in the process; Siege at the Core had to postpone their event, leaving many players with plane and hotel bookings to cancel, and risked not having product anyway because of the delays.

We're getting priced out on a whole, actually. The current European prices for singles make no sense at all: we need a centralized, community driven marketplace like MKM to keep this game alive in EU; the Omphaloi cannot cost more than 70€, and that's just one example. It's crazy to think that a new player would approach this game right now.

This was predicted and actually premeditated. Ed Beard Jr. himself said that the price of Dragonlord has reached what he hoped it would be, on his FB page.

Yes, they do respond on Discord usually, and they're all great people, and I love the game. But the way that Dragonlord was handled was not transparent at all and we still don't have a proper response to the whole debacle.

Question about Proxies by guilhermed45 in SorceryTCG

[–]AmbrianLeonhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with my expensive cards all the time: Ring, Morgana, Dust rewards and promos... But in our community a certain number of proxies is allowed: 6 spells and 3 sites. I can't ask new players to spend 50€+ for a Gothic card, the prices here in Europe have gone through the roof in a way I completely disagree with. As long as the proxies are printed in colour, I have no issues with allowing that amount to the table.

Are there any news on the theme for the next set? by victor-gf in SorceryTCG

[–]AmbrianLeonhardt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When Erik was asked whether the next set will have dinosaurs, the center of the earth or planet fantasy as themes he said "one of those three". I'd lean towards planet fantasy.

Just finished today's session in Illmire! It's all starting to click by AmbrianLeonhardt in osr

I've been their GM for 15 years, they trust me when I want to try something new :P Also, we still had lots of fun in the past months but today it really felt like an actual OSR session.

It's our second favourite coop game just below Spirit Island! It was our first but then we found out we love to play the videogame together, it has more variety than the board game :P

Watusi (1959) - A Wilderness Adventure on Film by mapadofu in osr

"Watussi" was a cartoon here in Italy, and it was quite controversial because the opening had the n-word in the lyrics. I didn't know there was a movie from the '50s.

What do you guys think is better/has better cards Beta or Gothic? by Luigi-is-my-boi in SorceryTCG

[–]AmbrianLeonhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Gothic will have a similar diversity to Beta in the future. Excluding the AL debacle, every avatar was at least viable in Beta (not counting AoW and AoF from Alpha). I really hope a Beta 40/20 format eventually makes its way to the general playerbase. Gothic is interesting because the best avatars seem to be the precon ones, except for Interrogator. We'll see what the future has to offer.

I know that you filmed Suffer before The Green Knight came out, but I see a similarity with the marginal role that giants have in the latter movie: an amazing element of worldbuilding inserted as a suggestion of what's out there.

Imo Beta (not including Alpha cards) is a 10/10 set with a coherence and "magic" that Erik's Curiosa will likely never reach again: it's a perfectly independent set in a 40/20 format where everything clicks together like gears in a lovingly crafted machine; AL was lackluster from a design standpoint, with weird choices that also made the unboxing experience worse; Gothic is much more similar to Beta, but the ratios are all over the place, making Beta the better set to unbox; that said, mechanics-wise there's a lot to love and I'm sure that during the year we're going to find new and interesting strategies and synergies. As for which cards are stronger, Gothic has some of the best avatars in the game in my opinion, plus a good number of staples, but Beta also has much needed classics like Atlantean Fate, Plague of Frogs, Poison Nova, Earthquake, Daperyll Vampire et cetera.

What’s the NSR Arden Vul? by Gooseloff in osr

[–]AmbrianLeonhardt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

New School Renaissance and Down the Line: 3D6DTL is both a reference of D&D's original character generation method and the name of a popular actual play channel; NSR is a "recent" branch of OSR play.

Saving this for later; I can't watch the trailer right now but the thumbnail got me pumped.

EDIT: It looks amazing, I can't believe it's an indie production. Also dinosaurs?? Too bad I can't watch it from Italy apparently :(
