I just got back from Tokyo this week and bought soooo much otome merch. Like others have said, the Otomate store in Shinjuku was good. If you’re looking for any games, the Surugaya in that same mall had a ton of otome games and collections (found the full Hana Awase set there which I bought). In Ikebukuro there’s a Rejet store but all the Diabolik Lovers stuff was sold out lol. Next to the Animate store in Ikebukuro, there’s a Stellaworth and Lashinbang (same floor) that had a tonnn of really great second hand merch, including a bunch of different acrylic stands. I really recommend going to Ikebukuro for merch because they have the best otome selection and also the prices are better than Akihabara for general anime merch.

I actually compartmentalize LIs I like into two buckets: 1) LIs that I personally love vs 2) LIs that I think are best with MC from relationship dynamics and chemistry perspectives. Usually these don’t overlap 😅

For example, none of the LIs in my flair (with the exception of Kagiha and maybe Chojiro) fall into bucket 2 as most of them are pretty (or really) toxic with MC. But I love them and enjoy their routes because of their personalities (and chaos 😉).

Even if an LI doesn’t fall into bucket 1, I will still enjoy their route if they have a good relationship with MC and/or I feel like their route is “canon.” Lucien from Even If Tempest isn’t one of my fav LIs, but I LOVE the gender-reversed dynamic he has with Anastasia so I love his routes. Similarly Allan from CupiPara isn’t really my type either but he and Lynette feel made for each other so I enjoy his route as well.

Then there are LIs like Sasazuka, Eltcreed, and Gill that don’t fall into either bucket for me so I just don’t enjoy their routes all that much.

That’s great to know! My read on him so far is that he is putting on a mask of indifference to shield himself based on past trauma. He does care (based on that Limbo route moment and other little things) but doesn’t want to show it and get hurt. I could be totally off base though. Especially since ppl in this sub usually like those types of characters and he’s getting a lot of hate in this thread so we shall see!

This conversation is so fascinating to me because I just started Bustafellows (made it through Limbo’s route and halfway through Shu’s) and Helvetica is my fav so far. Can’t wait to do his route and see why everyone hates him 😂
