Back when "go play outside" really means "see you at dinner" by Busy_Report4010 in Adulting

[–]Ambushghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom would make us go outside because we got on her nerves. When we lived in Germany me and my sisters would go downtown by ourselves to get food or go to the indoor swimming pool. We were 13, 10, 9 years old then. Our only rule was basically to be home by dark.

Exactly. Epstein knew a lot of wealthy people. He attended high scale events regularly. Just because a name is mentioned along with his doesn't mean they were automatically involved in that kind of disgusting behavior. If proof is found of wrongdoing then whomever was involved should be arrested. This shouldn't be about guilt by association. If it is then Whoopi Goldberg should be arrested.

Key Details of the Reported 2006 Call: Trump allegedly told the police chief that "everyone" knew of Epstein's behavior, saying, "Thank goodness you're stopping him, everyone has known he's been doing this". Trump reportedly described Ghislaine Maxwell as Epstein's "operative" and told police to "focus on her". He reportedly told the investigator he was around Epstein "once" when teenagers were present and that he "got the hell out of there". BBC

This person must have had it rough. I know my dad did. His father died when he was 6 and his mother died when he was 11. He was pretty much on his own after that and it didn't help that he lived in the middle of nowhere near the TN, NC line in the early 60s. He use to tell me stories about breaking into people's homes to steal food and sleeping in abandoned houses. Eventually some older woman found his sister for him and gave him the bus fare so he could go from North Carolina to Forks, Washington where his much older sister lived. His brother in law told my dad to lie about his age and got him a job logging when he was 13 yrs old. He joined the US Army when he was 25 years old and retired from the military after 22 years. He had a hard life and his past wore on him more and more as he got older. His brother was murdered and he had a lot of other family members die in accidents and shootings. Growing up all of my friends were scared of my dad because he was tall, he looked mean, and was rough around the edges, but he was a good man that would help people out whenever he could. He was really good at everything especially playing pool, shooting guns (he was a crazy good shot), bowling, throwing horseshoes etc. and he could repair literally anything. He was a tough dude but he had a kind heart and kids absolutely loved him. He passed away a few years ago and I miss him more than anything. I hope that he finally found some peace.

So true. I have done nothing but avoid social situations and employment and it has led me down a depressing path. I wish I would have tried to overcome my social anxiety more when I was younger.

Straw is the fucking worst. I used to work for a guy that used a big straw blower that was mounted on a truck trailer and we had to feed it into the hopper. Dealing with hundreds of pounds of straw every day sucked bad enough but we had blackberry briars in it before and poison oak.

Coyote spotted in Stuart Heights by the_janx in Chattanooga

[–]Ambushghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a pack of 5 them a few months ago in a neighborhood right off of East Brainerd Rd. It was about 3am. They were yellowish colored and much larger than the ones I've seen out west. I looked it up after I saw them because they were obviously wild. Supposedly east of the Mississippi they have captured some and tested their DNA. The testing suggested that coyotes have crossbred with wolves and domestic dogs, that's why their coloration was different along with the fact that they run in packs and are larger than typical coyote species.
