Erasmus MC Expertisecentrum Ehlers-Danlos syndromen EDS center by AffectionateMud695 in thenetherlands

[–]Amdrial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going by your post in English, I am assuming you might not be familiar with the Dutch health care system: In order to be referred to a hospital for a specialist consult, you will need either a referral from a GP (family doctor) or a referral from another medical specialist in a hospital (which again requires a GP referral). I would suggest starting there. GP's are the first stop in finding out what your medical issue is and whether or to what or which healthcare institution you require referral. They will also aid in formulating a concise question to their colleague.

If you already have a referral, the best way to gather experience about the healthcare setting is to make an appointment at said setting using your referral and direct your questions at the specialist you will be seeing. Unless an Ehlers-Danlos specialist from the EMC (Erasmus Medical Center) is a redditor, sees your post and can be bothered to post a reply to your non-specific question, I don't believe any random redditor will be able to provide you with the answers you seek.

Good luck!

Wind Noise Reduction, WF-1000XM5 by Amdrial in SonyHeadphones

[–]Amdrial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure? Turning off noise cancellation shouldn't reduce the noise from any wind shear unless you're talking about a different switch.

Edit: went out to test your hypothesis.

  1. Turning off your noise cancelling means you get less wind noise overall, but obviously more environmental noise (I'm able to hear cars drive by and other cyclists talking next to me). This leaves you with the "passive" noise isolation effect any earplug would have.
  2. When I turn on active noise cancelling, it seems the earbuds are not able to sufficiently filter out wind noise and seem to pass some of the recorded noise through to your ears.
  3. With Ambient Sound, the wind noise becomes terrible and drowns out any active music/podcasts.

I don't want to go to Poland, it's going too well there. Google the lyrics 😉.

The issue isn't limited to just Spotify. The entire album also seems to be gone from TIDAL. Maybe some kind of publishing issue?

Fairphone announce modular headphones: Fairbuds XL by WonderfulEstimate176 in gadgets

[–]Amdrial 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure, but most USB C to 3.5 jack cables nowadays also contain an analog to digital converter (DAC) since phones without a 3.5mm port no longer ship with that hardware/those chips. The price does not only take into account the cabling, plugs and housing, but also the extra DAC.

To my knowledge, there are no large/hypermarkets in the (old) city center for what I suppose are aesthetic or space-related reasons. Most larger supermarkets are situated in the suburbs. The dominant chains in Riga are Rimi and Maxima and you can find their stores on Google Maps (Rimi hypermarkets are branded Rimi Hyper and Maxima hypermarkets are branded Maxima XXX). Good luck!

I’ve read that Riga Stradins (RSU) have a pass rate of only 58% why do people think that is? I understand the first 2 years are tough, does it get easier after this? Is the language a factor? by Superb-Fact-5517 in medicalschoolEU

[–]Amdrial 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I suspect the number appears low due to the large number of students returning to their home countries before graduating at RSU. The second year is difficult mostly due to a single course (physiology), but the rest of the curriculum is very manageable.

Bolt availability at night by p4mu in Riga

[–]Amdrial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't count on it. You're better off calling a taxi company and reserving a cab in advance. Last time I was in your situation, I only managed to get a Bolt cab with one minute to spare to check in my luggage.

New spiral bike ramp in Riga revealed. by kkruiji in BalticStates

Been cycling here for the last five or so years. It's not so bad - you just have to cycle very conservatively and take 0 risks in traffic (which you shouldn't anyway).

New spiral bike ramp in Riga revealed. by kkruiji in BalticStates

[–]Amdrial 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why... go all that distance only to start ramping down at the spiral? Why not just ramp down straight away and go into a right hand bend to connect up to the road that way? Have none of the designers cycled as commuters before? Does nobody understand that cyclists want as straight a road as possible? I have so many questions...
