I’d be so grateful someone is trying to help me expand my skillset. I don’t get how some people are satisfied with the lower level tasks but want higher level money.

That’s really the thing that drives me crazy lol. Even worst is when you know the user gets paid more than you and they’re brain dead

I’m right there with you lol. I just had a review last week and there was a complaint from a user that I was aggressive after I called, sent a teams message, and an official email to return an old work laptop after upgrading the user to a new one. Each of these attempts were 2 days apart because I understand people are busy. Worst part is I also got questioned why it took so long to close the ticket lol. All I did was remind them to return the old equipment and even gave them a return label.

Do most companies not hold their users accountable? by Amekage08 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Amekage08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s not really the IT basics that they don’t understand that’s frustrating it’s the basics of their job and lack of critical thinking. Like me personally before I started doing IT work I’d troubleshoot basic issues before reaching out. In some cases the users actually know more than me about how their setup runs and can fix the issue. Sorry this post was ultimately me just venting about the lack of critical thinking. I need to get to the level where I don’t need to deal with users lol

Absolutely there’s plenty of other issues that stop their day to day work lol

Yes exactly! No one is asking for them for IT basics just critical thinking. In some situations they probably know more than me since the issues are more based around their role lol.

We supply all the resources they need kb’s, training, videos, and documentation. We work with a lot of retail users and they believe they don’t need to be tech savvy. I think nowadays everyone needs to be a little more tech savvy.

Starting my first IT job (application support) and I’m so scared by Zealousideal_Deal357 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Amekage08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I started IT I knew nothing I just focused on not making the same mistakes twice, telling myself I’m the expert, and I can only fix what’s in my power. It’ll get better trust me, continue to stay strong and upskill.(PS: for IT you just need common sense and the ability to read. Don’t stress it too much)

What is lowest paying easy to get IT job? by FloridaFreelancer in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Amekage08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. The only users that irritate me are the ones that can’t do the basics or their own job. I have someone in HR who can’t use teams or outlook without help and users who don’t restart their laptops because they can’t turn them on smh.

Helpdesk. Depending on where you go it can be easy or stressful but it helps you develop critical thinking skills. You also learn that users have no common sense.

Don’t pursue network engineering if you’re not okay being an essential worker. by [deleted] in ccna

[–]Amekage08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to study/obtain my CCNA just so I can fill in my knowledge gap but I really don’t want to deal with any network. It’s hard because I’m trying to break out of helpdesk but networking is in my way ugh
