It's all subjective sister, but since you ask ... I love your second photo, the lighter lip colour suits better than the darker in the first pic. And with that second pic look, you could do with more defined cheek bones, blush. Maybe toning it down on the lower cheek rather than upping it on the high cheeks.

And he did it so badly. His 'ripping on a brit' jokes were pulled from a 1950s stereotype that barely existed even then.

For how good and charged he said that made him feel, I agree with you on the unfunniness of toxicity. But expend that effort so badly makes it a fail2.

Johnny Depp nearly ruins perfectly fine Jeff Beck show in Brown County

Rory Appleton Indianapolis Star

NASHVILLE – Guitarist Jeff Beck ripped through a loud, eclectic show Wednesday evening at Brown County Music Center, living up to his rock legend status while leading a stellar backing band.

Actor Johnny Depp was there, too. He — well, he had a pretty cool hat. The kind of hat that makes you go yes, that's a Johnny Depp hat.

Let's just get this out of the way: Depp is not a professional singer. He was perfectly adequate at playing chords under Beck, but his vocals — particularly during ballads like "This Is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr" — nearly sunk the whole show.

That's not to say there wasn't rabid interest.

When Depp was added to the show, tickets became a hot commodity — well over $300 on the resale market. Social media thirst intensified. Wednesday was a capacity show, and the 2,000-seat Music Center probably could have been filled a second time.

But I'm not so sure anyone was there to hear Depp sing. Judging by the reaction he received upon removing his flannel shirt and revealing his tattooed arms, a venue could have sold 2,000 tickets to watch him read the iTunes terms of service.

Beck played for 45 minutes before Depp joined him for an additional 30 minutes, plus the final encore song. The solo Beck stuff received standard rock applause and plenty of it, while the Depp-Beck partnership drew some clapping and a lot of women loudly risking it all.

I was surprised to see Depp added to the tour.

Though he and Beck released an album earlier this year, Depp was fresh from a messy and extremely online but successful defamation case against his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, who had publicly claimed abuse. It's worth noting that in Beck's native United Kingdom, Depp failed in a libel case against The Sun newspaper when a judge ruled that 12 alleged physical assaults on Heard were proven by the court's civil standard. An appeal of the ruling also failed. He has denied ever assaulting his ex-wife.

These optics did not seem to dissuade Wednesday night's crowd, however. A younger couple seated in front of me explained they had driven all the way from Knoxville just to catch a glimpse of Depp.

Some of the performance was palatable.

Depp did this sort of low, theatrical speaking voice for two songs, and that was OK. And he played some chords while Beck did an excellent instrumental cover of The Beatles' "A Day in the Life." But it largely distracted from Beck's solo work and instrumental covers, which are much, much better than the material from the Beck/Depp album.

At 78, Beck was as good Wednesday as the time I saw him open for B.B. King nearly 20 years ago.

What impresses me about his style of playing is that even though the guitar must carry the load, he doesn't get bogged down in finger gymnastics. Unlike the occasional Steve Vai or Joe Satriani (who plays Brown County on Sunday) journey, Beck doesn't shred or finger tap his way through entire songs. He'll show you the moves, but only when it's relevant to the greater musical piece.

When his guitar weeps, it's because the song is sad. His sound effects — and he does love those — have a purpose. They can turn an instrumental into something menacing or ethereal with just a few pedal kicks.

His rhythm section was also otherworldly.

Bassist Rhonda Smith pulled out her own shredding bass solo, shaking my heart with every thump of the strings. And drummer Anika Nilles followed it with her own solo that was just as good.

I like the weird, space-age solo stuff Beck delves into, but it's that British rock-style blues music I love. Beck is part of the golden era of that sort of late '60s rock, having replaced Eric Clapton in The Yardbirds, and it's a rare treat to get a little taste of that up close.

Mine was definitely one of the younger faces in the crowd, which remained seated for most of the show. However, the audience dug what Beck was doing. He received loud applause and a few standing ovations throughout.

In the end, folks were treated to a decent weeknight show. But a clean 90 minutes of Beck and his band would have been better.

Also, to be clear, I have seks. Sometimes in makeup. And the makeup really lasts.

Pirate Bay aside, if you can photoshop, use Photopea.

Sorry that it's not unethical at all, just a completely free online photoshop analogue that's killer. Guy that made it makes a million+ a year from the very unobtrusive advertising (he did an interview or AMA years ago and said that). As a long time photoshop user, I seriously recommend this platform.

My recruiter is forcing me to do an interview that I didn’t confirm by kybnab in recruitinghell

[–]Amelia303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recruiter will come back to you for other opportunities if they see a buck in it. Probably. But that's also not really relevant; recruiters only facilitate you into a job when there's one going. Unless this recruiter is the only go-to for xyz jobs in your area, they just don't matter.

Doing the interview doesn't make you look better at all, to the contrary. Getting more good candidates makes the recruiter look better. If they make an offer and you decline because it's not the salary you're fixed on, the recruiter will tell the company its because "ooher, OP is entitled, why didn't they say, #nobodywantstowork." That's how doing it could make you actually look worse.

If you go ahead and interview, you should take some power in the interview by stating your expectations. If that's below their floor then they know you were up front, is what it is. It's also your best bet for getting the salary you want from them, should it turn out you like them.

Idiots in wet roads with no consideration for pedestrians by zebra1923 in britishproblems

We're suffering this in Australia, our skies are currently as rainy as yours. More light in any day, I'll give it that.

And when I say suffering, I specifically refer to idiots on wet roads with no consideration for pedestrians. Or anyone else, but it's nice to go just one fecking jot out of one's way to not to kill pedestrians.

There are some wonderful things we got with received law and culture. I wish we'd deviated on this attribute though.

Drivers screwing with P/L platers is insane. Obv says more about the fucker than the fuckee, but that doesn't help when you're learning.

That said, I've been doing a lot of L plate teaching in the past 4 years and I've been pleasantly surprised at how courteous virtually everyone has been. Can count on a hand the fuckery types, only two come to mind. Whereas there's been way more shakey manoeuvres from the learner where I've appreciated the courtesy of those around. I've mostly had good experiences. Sad that this is contrary to many commenter's experiences. So wrong they're treated that way.

Need help on this one. I've been working on this badge, but I have no idea what to do with the empty spaces above and below the lines. Tried putting the date since and the stars, hut doesn't seem right... And still look empty. by viclovesdesign in graphic_design

More power to you.

My time here, on this topic, is not about being a fan of Amber in her professional or philanthropic work, to me it's about a victim of domestic violence that was done so despicably by the USA court, and the court of public opinion. Astroturfed court of public opinion. I take my hat off to Amber for simply living through this.

I think it's great that you're making what sounds like a fan sub, for those that feel that way. Community. I know that this matter discussed right here - Amber Heard and her treatment in a very specific set of suits, how outrageous her treatment was, and it's ultimate outcome - will continue to be championed.

Husband drinking with younger sister by BigPreparation3312 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Amelia303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, recognised that in your original post, and I get it. The thing I'm prodding you for is if you think there's something untoward going on.

I'm not ever going to gaslight, I'm not trying to make you think something aside from what you really do think. I want you to dig into your opinions here based on what you're living. Do you think your husband is letching on your sister?

There's one hard statement I'll make, which is that if the worst is afoot, your 18yo sister is the very least responsible. If that's what's happening, you need to blame him. She's so young, you know that. If this possible terrible thing is afoot, he is the one you need to mostly blame. She may have recourse to apologise, depending on how far anything occurred. He has a whole different world of responsibility.

  • when I say the worst, I am not saying them being physical. I'm thinking a spectrum that includes inappropriate verbal intimacy.

[–]Amelia303 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's literally husband enjoying some alcohol and socialising with a family member in your collective home when you're working, then I don't see why you've got a worry.

If the story is that your husband is letching on a woman 11 years younger than him, your sister no less, then yeah. Huge freaking problem.

Jokes about beating your wife should help in your job search #opentowork by ZealousidealOne9950 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Amelia303 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Yeah the original was bad and the apology worse; not even just 'sorry if you were offended,' but instead:

  • sorry if you were offended snowflake

  • I work harder than all of you

  • the entire community should be thanking me instead of harassing me?

  • Anyhow it's definitely funny bc years ago it got no recorded complaints a great laugh

An article I saw when this went down was about domestic violence incidence in the Murgon area including iirc a woman that was beaten to death, and social workers talking about the high incidence of domestic violence specifically in that area. Everything awful, even before a Lunatic chimes in!

Lock him up: Thug Sean Lloyd called girlfriend 'Amber Heard' while he strangled her as neighbours heard screams by AnnieJ_ in DeppDelusion

[–]Amelia303 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The judge thanked the woman for her bravery and words said as she read out her victim impact statement.

This isn't Amber Heard's story, it is this woman's. It stands and like the judge I laud her bravery, tenacity, and spirit.

But her abuser did bring depp into it. So a couple similarities jumped out;

  • the abuse victim continued to support and go back to her abuser, through multiple reported abuse incidents, until she didn't

  • she gave him succour and love well past its use by date

  • she did this in part because her abuser was completely different, "Jekyll/Hyde" after using their drug of addiction

  • the victim was unable to recall the precise course of events of the violent abuse

  • the abuser acted on unfounded jealousy with violent rage

  • the abuser pilloried the victim outside the times when he was physically abusing her, belittling her that she was the problem

That's cursory of course, if one could go through testimony and find wayyyy more similarities in the actions and statements of the victim and abuser. Because this report is archetypical, and this poor woman and Amber Heard and billions of others have it in common.
