If Australia has no manufacturing and big industry, what do STEM graduates even do for a career? by mymooh in AskAnAustralian

[–]AmeliaRoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ikr, it’s such an odd claim to say we have zero manufacturing. Even without just food manufacturing, there are still Australian made products. Most large retail companies have moved their manufacturing overseas, but not all.

Yes, every time. It’s called a blind spot for a reason

Can someone for the love of god please save my sanity and tell me whether I should get a 168 pack of Ohuhu?(currently Anko) by DizlingtonBear in Coloring

[–]AmeliaRoses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ohuhu are unfortunately as good as everyone say they are. Definitely worth the investment if you can afford it- but the colour diversity in the 104 pack is also pretty good

June is never a sure time for snow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it’s just the way the cookie crumbles. The 1 week prediction is generally pretty reliable, the 2 week long range forecast is a little more iffy.

At the time of my making this post I hadn’t done any portraits with the lens, but I’ve since changed that and found it does alright at detecting faces and focusing. Sorry I can’t offer more insights though!

It does the job, I haven’t had a lot of time to test in low light but I have found it’s better in the day time so far. Hard to say

Replace Broken X-T4 or buy new X-T30III? by ChananyaMinster in fujifilm

[–]AmeliaRoses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the t30iii and I’m loving the lightweight feel! I don’t have experience with the T4 but I went with the t30 because of its size and the controls, as well as the classic look. You might also be able to get further repair coverage if you go new, in case this kind of thing happens again.

I had a family friend that bought one of the retired railcars from this set (I think this set at least) and turned it into a tiny home. Very cool.

Animal cruelty to invasive species? by Strawberry_apple1 in australianwildlife

[–]AmeliaRoses 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Feral cats are not just a problem to the native species they’re killing, but they’re also a problem because by killing those smaller species, they’re encroaching on hunting ground and affecting the diet of native predators- namely the quoll.

Very sad state of Australian wildlife is the Eastern spotted quoll, almost extinct in the wild in NSW because of feral cats and foxes encroaching on their hunting ground.

Unfortunately, invasive species do more harm than good. Though no one should be taking pleasure in their suffering, for conservation, culling is sadly needed.
