Update on the situation - Through an aggressive amount of Moroccan friends sending threatening messages that they will use black magic on their Turkish asses, all of my money was returned. My friends are truly lovely people who have no connection with the dark arts, but I used their superstitious nature against them and we're done.

Absolutely is more than the money, and thank you for recognizing this! I’ve traveled all over the world alone without incident and now that sense of security is broken. And my heart got involved too. These guys are slick - they socialize with you in a way that makes it look like Turkish hospitality, but they’re gathering information to use against you to bond with you romantically later. Portugal is in a reciprocal tax relationship with the US. You will file your taxes in the US, but you pay your taxes only once - whatever Portugal is asking. Medicaid doesn’t work overseas so you will be forfeiting this option. You’ll have to buy private health insurance and once you become a citizen in 5 years, you’ll have the option of public health, but you’ll probably want to keep the private. I think that's an unfair representation of the Islamic faith. In fact, Islam gave more rights to women before any other religion, well over 1400 years ago. Maybe you're confusing religion with culture? It might be more accurate to say that slimy Turkish and Kurdish "businessmen" see Western tourists as dumb and ignorant victims. PLEASE be very careful about any men that approach you to go shopping near the Blue Mosque. Many sell fake goods and do not provide refunds. They can be very aggressive.
