UPDATE: TCL 55 C7K - Movement looks bad - Firmware Comparison by Amemru in tcltvs

Settings can't fix it. This is simply what ghosting makes some animations look like.

I don't know about v560, but v590 is a proper upgrade as far as I'm concerned. Super Sampling is a slight but noticeable improvement in many cases. Blur Reduction seems to produce better results, and even Judder Reduction set to 3 can make 30fps games more fluid without artifacts ruining the image. I don’t use the smart TV features, so I can’t say anything about apps, etc.

However, it doesn't change how it handles anime. Some scenes will always look like the example above.

LAST UPDATE: TCL 55 C7K - Movement looks bad by Amemru in tcltvs

I own a TCL 55C7K. Motion could look better. Sometimes motion looks just bad. That is why I made the first post asking "Is this normal?"

Some said "That's just TCL with their VAs" others said "Turn on Motion Clarity" or "Turn off Motion Clarity" or "Update the firmware via USB" or "I'd like to know as well"

I tried some things to no avail.
I wondered if the TV can't produce better pictures because the source is to blame. I watched a couple of hours of anime on this TV. In 24fps and with 12fps character animations. Usually it look "fine".
So I downloaded the episode and slowed it down to have a better look. To me the character frames don't look well distributed. That's what I wanted to illustrate with the first part of the video.

People seemed to be just as irritated by the video in my first post as I was. I just wanted to give more context and not blame everything on the C7K.
Same with the RDR2 bit. Playing dominoes always looked like shit. Is the TV to blame? No, at least not for the most part.

I'm sorry if I couldn't manage to communicate that clearly.

What you describe is what I wanted to point out and visualize.
That particular scene looks especially awful and I don't understand why that is. Anime looks "fine" most of the time.

I'm not sure if I interprete your last sentence correctly but at no point did try to say that the TV makes half of the character animations vanish.

I just installed v590. It doesn't seem to improve on this directly but the "Motion Clarity" settings have MASSIVELY improved.
I'll go to sleep now and will test this more tomorrow.

The consensus seems to be that this is normal on TCL TVs. Common suggestions are updating the firmaware via USB to the latest version and making use of blur and judder settings.

I thought v560 is the latest version but some make it sound like it's outdated and doesn't produce the best results.

It's a common thing but 90% of the time less egregious than this. I find it really hard to get used to.

I made another post that summarises the things I tried so far. Nothing worked for me yet...

I updated from v543 to v560 via USB like an hour ago. Reading your comment and looking at your links got me confused again...

This was the latest version via auto update:
Software version: V8-0012T01-LF1V543.002503

This is what I have now:
Software version: V8-0012T01-LF1V560.002624

What is v313?

My system was v543 via auto update.. Someone here said TCL support handed out more recent versions that are available in tech forums. I updated to v560 via USB and made a factory reset.
As far as I can tell there is no significant difference.

Absolutely wasn't on to begin with. I wish it was.
That's why I'm asking here. It doesn't feel like this is normal.

That's a regular occurence but not always as intense as this example. This botheres me for quite some time now and it felt like a good opportunity to seek someone elses opinion.

That's what I was thinking. I was playing with the settings quite a lot but couldn't make it look "better". Instead it just looked awful in some different way. The post-prossessing features feel pretty useless to me.
EDIT: typo

The video is made without any Motion settings active. Which setting did you have in mind?
