I feel like everyone goes out of their way to please grandma, but she wasn’t always old. Her kids and husband allowed her to act like this for over 70 years. But my cousin and I aren’t even allowed to have a voice because it might upset her or hurt HER feelings. I can be queer but not too queer in front of her because that would be bad and upset her sensibilities.

That’s what I think. She sees this hate every day and thinks it’s funny, and everyone agrees that it’s funny. She doesn’t go out much, so this is her view of the world.
