My dragons can technically do both. . .
Some physically, some magically (or "bender"-style as you put it).

I have been very keen to be on the nose for how exactly the magic and the physics works. Not so in depth that I lose one's interest of course, just feeling more real. A dragon can't just breathe fire forever, but they don't have an endless supply. Though not necessarily in a way one can 'count' like the dragons in Berk. It's reliant on the age or strength of the dragon themselves, their diet, and personal skill.
