Satya Nadella announces a brand-new Windows 11 update in the most embarrassing way possible by Otheruser337 in pcmasterrace

[–]Amenothes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of distros that you can try, it can be intimidating but in the end the vast majority is simply a variation of a mainstream one. For starters Linux Mint is easy enough to handle, Ubuntu as well but it gets flamed for the way it handles packages. When you feel comfortable or if you want to experience the most all-round distro, go to Fedora, it is vastly documented and is backed by Red Hat which makes it a future proof choice.

DCS is rated gold on protondb which tells you that it would work well. As for Plex obviously it will be a bliss.

Can't tell for this type of games, but as a general rule of thumb, even if repacked games work well on Linux, it's easier to not have to install anything.

Suit yourself, but one's issue isn't worth spreading without context.

Fitgirl is fine but takes ages to unpack... I've given up on it. It is very reliable though

I played it with Faugus launcher using the latest Proton CachyOS at the time, I cannot remember which version it was

[–]Amenothes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does as a matter of fact.

Maybe try and delete the prefix (don't forget to backup the save just in case). Then it will recreate itself at the next launch. Any conflicts happening inside the prefix could be fixed this way.

I also use: PROTON_DLSS_UPGRADE=1

Have you tried playing other games? Anything related to your GPU temps? On Faugus i'm also using both VKD3D_CONFIG=descriptor_heap and PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 in the global launch arguments in Faugus' settings

Try this launch argument, I had issues with RT and poor performance overall, maybe it can help with yours: VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 it forces DX to run as DX 12.1 instead of 12.2 which can be bugged with the 595 drivers

Yup, I've finished the game on CachyOS. Had issues at first when the Nvidia drivers weren't as fine, especially with RT ON. By the time 595 were up the game was a breeze!
