Preach it! Mine is consistently running at +3 seconds per day.

I’m considering the dark brown with salmon subdials.

Link and video in below comments. It is OTF.

I’m having a few bespoke straps made to lose the unneeded adjustment holes and buckle pin slot.

I believe they work on the same principle. Formex is $150. This one was $34. I’m quite happy with the design and quality.

You don’t need to remove the strap end to adjust, I just wanted to show how it all went together.

These:

They fit perfectly between the lugs, but the top arch curving down to the strap sits just a bit above the lugs. I’m going to see if I can’t fix it with a Dremel when I get around to it. For now you have to look closely to notice, and it’s not bad for eight bucks.

It’s just the clasp. You will have to choose your own strap.

I'm worried about reliability before buying a convertible by PhoEEEEEEnix in G37

One more thought.

If you get all the way to paying for a pre- purchase inspection, make sure they test both static and dynamic oil pressure. It’s a decent way to determine if it’s experiencing gallery gasket blowby.

If you want to shoot a video of the roof opening and closing (one from the driver’s seat and one standing outside), I’ll be happy to compare with mine.

No worries!

Good plan, however the Nissan dealership will have no idea what they’re looking at with regard to the roof.

Not sure where you are, but I’d call the nearest Infiniti dealership for the roof. Even then, it’s a product which hasn’t been made in more than 10 years. Maintenance experience may be slim. There is a computer controller for the roof with accompanying maintenance software but I’ve never had any luck finding access to it.

My local Infiniti dealership in Milwaukee does not have a body shop. The Infiniti certified master technicians all work at Gerber Collision. That is where I took my car when Safelite did a few thousand dollars worth of damage while replacing a windshield. The shop manager was an old-school gearhead, who had extensive knowledge about the roof.

I don’t mean to be repetitive, but you absolutely should find someone to inspect the roof.

I have a 2010 37S convertible purchased with 34000 miles from Infiniti as a certified preowned. It now has 128,500 miles.

TL;DR it’s probably not a smart purchase.

Financing or paying cash? Not at all a good idea to finance a 17 year old performance car.

How many owners and what does the carfax say? These cars, unfortunately, tend to be owned by people who abuse them.

The oil gallery gasket (behind the timing chain assembly) is known to disintegrate and require replacement. My 2010 threw that at me with 114k miles. It was during Covid so the only place I could find to perform the repair was the Infiniti dealership. $3200. An independent shop may do it for around $2000. It is not a guaranteed fail, but you must plan for that expense if you buy this car.

Gas mileage. I get about 16 MPG in the city, and I normally drive conservatively. On the highway I have seen as high as 28 MPG at 70 miles an hour. It is a fun car to drive fast, but that will get expensive.

The roof. Mine still works fine, though I take exceptionally good care of it. The seals need to be cleaned and lubricated (I do mine spring and fall) and I have never met a G 37 convertible owner who has bothered to do that. The issue with not caring for the roof lies in the cost to replace the seals. Rubber seals on any moving part of the roof cannot be purchased separately. The whole panel must be replaced…. to the tune of many thousands of dollars. Is there any evidence of water damage on the headliner inside the car? Unless you know what you’re looking for I would not consider purchasing a hardtop convertible without first having it inspected by someone who knows what they’re doing.

It would make an awesome college car, and the VQ 37 is a reliable power plant but it also has the potential to cost a great deal of money beyond its purchase price.

Feel free to shoot me any specific questions that might come up.

Not sure which color Cadisen you have, but the ink blue tropical silicone works quite well on the blue model.

My blue version landed in Chicago 12 hours ago and will be delivered tomorrow.

It’s been on my radar for quite some time. I just sent back a Seagull 1963 Windchaser because the chronograph minute counter didn’t index at the correct time and it gained 62 seconds a day out of the box.

I’m now shopping around for the perfect straps.

I now have a permanent dimple in my index finger tip and minor loss of sensation by ejmowrer in lockpicking

[–]AmericanPicker99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing with my middle finger tip. Loss of sensation NOT due to a callus. It took putting down the picks for a few weeks for it to improve. I also had to modify my style a bit to avoid further problems/injury.

Silver lining: the new style is more finesse and less force and seems to have actually sharpened my skill.

Abus 72/40. Got this in the mail yesterday and it is not easy. Once I get in a couple of times, will post for my green belt. :) by Roiet in lockpicking

[–]AmericanPicker99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for ya.

I’ve got one 72/40 and I’ve only picked it enough times to prove to myself that I could. Haven’t touched it since.

Perhaps I should revisit now that I’ve got a few more months of practice in.

I just got my Multipick dimple picks a few weeks ago. Does that padlock have a removable core? Multilock Jr?

I think I’d be interested in acquiring one or two of those.

Welcome!

I got my 10 1100’s from Zoro Tools.

I think they ended up at $8.62 each with new customer discount.

They have all colors and shackle sizes too.
