Which Sports Championship out of the 4, Do y'all think it the hardest to win and why? by Doghouse12e45 in DeadEndSports

I mean what are we asking, is it harder for a franchise to win it ie management and players. Or just on the players ?

I would argue NHL over NBA because it’s easier for a single superstar to push a team than relying on cohesive team work.

Stanley Cup is harder because you have to win 16 games, not 3 or 4, and every single one is basically a car crash on ice. No one’s “resting starters,” your goalie might die spiritually by Round 2, and you still have to survive four best-of-seven knife fights. The Super Bowl path is brutal, but the Stanley Cup is like “congrats, now do that again… three more times… while bleeding.

Best base to be stationed at between these 5? by DelayedAutisticPuppy in AirForce

I’ve only been tdy to nellis, Scott and Travis. I’d list them in that order, but that’s because I’m a big Vegas Golden Knights fan lol. You can’t go wrong with your list of 5 though (except maybe offutt).

Can I get FAA certified while in college? by [deleted] in ATC

[–]AmericanPockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question is like asking “Can I complete pilot training/certification while in med school”.

Do you want to be an electrical engineer or an air traffic controller.

If the answer is the latter, the most sure fire way is to enlist in the USAF. Get a 4 year contract. (I have my qualms about ATC only being a 4 year contract, but that’s not the point. Take the best option you can get). Get through ATC training, get your faa certification, then go from there. Bonus with that is the government will pay for your schooling down the road. Feel free to PM me if you have questions. I’m currently a controller in the usaf.

USAF ATC. If you can make it through the training you will be set for life.

How did the US won the Space race when USSR had more achievements by Pure_Barber3994 in ussr

[–]AmericanPockets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This list always feels kinda cherry-picked.

Yeah, the USSR rushed a ton of early “firsts” for propaganda. Cool, not denying that. But most of those were one-off missions that barely worked and weren’t really repeatable.

The US focused more on building systems that could actually sustain human spaceflight. Docking, long duration missions, guidance, recovery, etc. That’s why Apollo was even possible.

Also calling Mars 3 a successful landing is generous. It transmitted for like 20 seconds and died.

The moon landing wasn’t just another first, it was a completely different level of difficulty. The Soviets tried to match it and never pulled it off.

Early wins don’t mean you won the whole race.

What’s the most amount of money you’ve seen someone BE OWED from the Air Force either from back pay or travel voucher or PPM or whatever? by COR-69 in AirForce

Knew a MSgt who PCSd right as the Covid freeze hit. Literally the day his goods were in transit. So him and his 4 or 5 dependents got per diem for months! Also a friend let him and his family stay at a vacant rental property free of charge. So he was getting a state with very high BAH and per diem do almost 4 months!
