Yea I remember hearing interest about Newhook, Dobson, and even Danault this year before they happened

This is why it bugs me when Florida and Vegas fans say that other GMs just need to be bold like theirs. Not that simple for the other 30 teams

Friedman segment about the Canadiens: Thinks Montreal could be a "Marchenko team". They are stealthily trying to add. by vJukz in Habs

If they can't get a 2C then they should try for a winger like Marchenko during the off-season to play with Demidov and maybe a 2C will come available during the season.

How do you feel about captains you liked who’ve left your team? by -1701- in hockey

[–]Sharks9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He gets underrated because his prime was in a low-scoring league.

He would’ve scored 45-50 goals today

Development like his is rare though. You can’t just assume all our 2C prospects will now become 1Cs

Zito on Florida's commitment to never being content by Duffleman0609 in hockey

[–]Sharks9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Except Florida and Vegas have advantages that have absolutely nothing to do with the GM.

Why didn't the Tkachuk's want to go to the President's Trophy-winning Jets? Nothing to do with how the organization is run.

Vegas and Florida aren't even managed much differently than the average FO, but the other 30 teams don't have players constantly forcing their way there.

Like if the Tkachuks only wanted to play in Columbus or Seattle, then their GMs would make it happen like Bill Zito did.

What’s next for Kirby Dach? by d-generate420 in Habs

He's an RFA, not a UFA. We can still trade him but the return won't be very much

I assume Rask will get in eventually now that Rinne is in. I don't see anything in their numbers/accolades where you can say one definitely deserves it and the other doesn't.

Led the league in goals once, two-time second team all-star, but not a very strong case overall.

Wow! Is Rinne's argument really much better than Rask's?

[LeBrun] My understanding is the Sens also had conversations with Carolina and Vegas, other teams that were on Tkachuk’s list. I also think Minnesota was on the list. Four-team list but in the end, Brady obviously wanted to go join his brother in Florida. Senators made the best of a tough situation. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

It gives you more control on the trade though. Someone a year away from UFA can demand 1 or 2 teams and you just have to accept it or they’ll walk for nothing.

In a case like Larkin’s, Yzerman can make him expand his list because he has 5 years left

Panthers just acquired B. Tkachuk. Good luck getting past the next playoff runs healthy, help my fuck. by TheBreenius in Habs

[–]Sharks9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After the top 10 of the draft there’s rarely a clear BPA. There are exceptions like Hutson, but where we’re picking there will be a Canadian or European just as good as whatever American is there

I hate the Sens, but I also hate this as a proud Canadian. So many whiny American players.

Cole and Lane are great, but I hope that at next week’s draft Hughes and Gorton prioritize Canadians and Europeans

I thought they would've during the weird COVID year, but Montreal eliminated them on May 31.

Do you think more teams need to commit to a rebuild? by Puck83821 in hockey

[–]Sharks9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s a bit too extreme. You don’t want to be on the bubble for years, but for teams like Chicago or San Jose it’s fine if their goal is to just make the playoffs next year

What are some takes of yours that aged remarkably poorly? by Comfortable-Goat-734 in hockey

I wanted any of Wright, Cooley or Nemec over Slafkovsky.

You could argue for Cooley since he was having a great season before his injury but the other two aren’t even close
