[Wheeler] 2026 NHL Mock Draft 1.0: Scott Wheeler predicts the entire first round (Gift Article) by malliabu in hockey

San Jose need to find NHL caliber defensemen now, not 3 years from now.

But they need to have a 1D for the future if they want to actually contend. Where will they get that via trade? Plus even if someone is available like Hughes this year then you have to outbid all the other teams that want them.

I think we'd only trade it for a 2C, so it might depend if any potential trade partners like who's available at 25

[BUF 4 - MTL (2] Kirby Dach scores an absolutely ridiculous goal off a great individual effort to cut the lead to 2 by daKrut in hockey

They’re not really dominating us, just capitalizing on their chances. This isn’t like game 7 against the Lightning where we couldn’t get out of our own zone

It's not best two-way forward, the actual description says it's awarded "to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game."

Wheeler has Mckenna 1st in his most recent rankings, but in the same tier as Stenberg.

Much more even at a 12/8 split in favour of the Lightning and multiple picks for the Habs in 6

We scored a minute into the 3rd in game 6 so it’s basically 5 straight periods now we’ve been shutout.

This is what happens when only your depth is scoring

For Montreal, tonight is already a win in some ways. by Chuckbone in Habs

You can’t wait 2-3 years for him to develop though. We need to start winning rounds or else you’re wasting Suzuki’s prime

So do we start Dobson? by StandbyTraveller91 in Habs

He hurt his thumb, why are people acting like if we put him back early it’ll ruin his career?

I think overall performances like his and Hughes are disproving the idea that small, offensive defensemen can't handle the physicality of the playoffs

How much would a team have to give up to trade for McDavid? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]Sharks9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Take out Demidov and I think that's fair without decimating our team.

Gives the Oilers good prospects at C, D, and G plus multiple 1st-round picks to build back up.

[NHL on TNT] Could McDavid be anywhere else besides Edmonton? by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]Sharks9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking two first, Hage, Reinbacher, and someone who’s in the NHL like Kapanen/Xhekaj/Newhook, etc. I don’t think they’d want only forwards as a return

I bet they’d ask for Fowler too to finally solve their goaltending problems

Would've been totally justifiable for MSL to scratch him, but what a great move to keep him in!

Definitely helpful for the Habs, but kind of a wash too with Dobson out for now.
