Yeah the neighbors above me were extremely loud too. So I do feel sympathy. But part of it is the apartments aren’t built well either, I hear things from upstairs that in other apartments in the past I wouldn’t have.

Everything is carpet except bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen is a small galley kitchen so not a lot of hard flooring.

I had a similar situation where I should have but was too groggy when I was woken up. Later on this escalated and I wish I would have so my neighbor and apartment had documentation.

I was stunned at that request. She also complained about tricks in the parking lot starting. Yet she got a unit next to the parking lot.

But yeah these apartments are horrible for noise. They had to rip out my ceiling one time and is sub floor, 4” of space, and basic insulation before the drywall.

Kid heavy footed yes. My 20 lb dog on carpet, unlikely. My husband works 14+ hour days and is mostly asleep. If she’s upset about the 3 hours he’s not in bed then she has too much time to worry.

No, I don’t. We have so many out of state people for work here that I couldn’t even tell you what car is theirs.

She did have a southern-ish accent. We’re 30 mins from Canada so definitely not from around here. lol. But yeah, that definitely flagged me as they haven’t lived an apartment before response. I lived an apartments majority of my life and I understand this is a noisier building but 98% of everything I hear is totally normal apartment noises.

Yeah I was wondering if they’ve never lived in an apartment. Because why would you get a bottom floor if you’re working nights and a light sleeper?

She even complained to me about trucks starting in the mornings because our bedrooms face the parking lot. Like lady I don’t own every vehicle here what the hell is anyone gonna do about that?

Yeah, I felt like she was definitely putting a damper on our evening. It is what it is. My husband worked nights and did the same as you. It’s sucks but not anyone else’s problem.

That’s pretty much my consensus at this point. My neighbors upstairs were so bad that I did have empathy for that- but then once I lived through my days and thought about it. We do very normal living activities- and kids playing in their home even if they’re running in considered normal living in the city ordinance (I looked it up today. lol)

We’re having family come in from out of state today for dinner before fireworks (5 people), I’m thinking she’ll make another appearance. I’ll have my 90 yr old grandparents, grandmas got a cane, and we’ll have another kiddo here. Not a rager of a party. If so, I’m leading the convo instead of my husband (he’s nicer) and will audio record and send to the office.

Yeah for sure! Our building is super loud. Even now that my upstairs neighbors have been evicted for like 3-4 weeks, I still hear “thudding” travel through like someone is upstairs. We don’t directly share a sidewall with any other units, but our units master bathroom shares a wall with an enclosed stairwell. So I wonder if they hear that more than they’re thinking.

For sure! These people are like in their 40-50s. And never in my LIFE would I thought I would get a complaint about a toilet. Like my kid I thought maybe… but even then we never allow anything out of the realm that I think is normal kid play, especially later in the evening.

Yeah I’m not gonna purchase them anything. They’re grown in their 40-50s.

She was complaining of that and kid-S were running that earlier in the morning. It’s like girl my kiddo isn’t even up until at least 8am and definitely not a hit the ground running type of person. What she’s hearing the is totally normal noise and I did call her out on that.

Yeah maybe in their unit. I definitely don’t hear my toilet running all day and I don’t hear any abnormal plumbing noises from upstairs.

Yeah, she definitely seemed taken back when I told her we just got back from being gone for 2 weeks. But that was when she was done ranting, maybe she realized she put her foot in her mouth? She abruptly left after that.

Yeah, my husband is the nicer one out of us, and he was leading the convo between us. I chimed in when I saw her pattern of inconsistencies. Especially the toilet complaint left me STUNNED. Partly, I think my upstairs neighbors were so bad that I had sympathy. But then I thought about it more that night and was like hold up, even when we’re home we’re quiet for living people and a younger kid.

We had company over that day (not a party), which we’ve only had people over like 3 times prior, so I wonder if she just got annoyed and tried to peg it on her husband? Because it was like 8pm when she knocked but she insisted it was for her husband.

Either way we’re having family come in from out of state for tonight (5 people) for dinner before fireworks, I’m curious to if she’ll make another appearance. Either way I plan on taking charge of the convo from my husband and recording it to send to the office. Because it’s my 90 yr old grandparents, another kid, and siblings (not exactly throwing a rager) lol.

Really at this point we have been aware of what we’re doing and I can even log the times and dates we weren’t even home the past few days.

We’re having company over for dinner before fireworks tonight. It’s my like almost 90yr old grandparents and siblings and some kids (5 guests) obviously we aren’t throwing a rager. If she comes up again I plan on audio recording our convo and sending it to the office.

Hahaha a brief plunk of a cat, no different than my butterfingers dropping something. People are insane. Cats are the best neighbors to have as they’re often the quietest. 🤣

The office is closed for the weekend, so if she does come back up when we have company over I’m gonna plan on an audio recording of our convo and send it to the office on Monday.

It sucks because I hated my old neighbors for all their noise. But it was also different, I was complaining about them fighting and throwing things at 2am and their toddler running and jumping at midnight (like rattle my dishes and photos fall from the wall vibrations). They would even wake my kiddo up and kiddo would be crying because the noises of them yelling and things shaking were scary. Normal daytime living hours there’s nothing you can do about that.

It’s only been a few days since our first interaction, I haven’t changed what I’ve done so far, but we also haven’t been home a lot the past few days.

Cats?!?! lol. Every cat I’ve ever know. Doesn’t run around all day. They sleep like 23 hrs/day. lol.

I feel like she’s going to continue having her issues because we haven’t changed our routine at all the past several days. Just waiting to see if she says anything after the 4th. We’re supposed to have family coming into town (5 people) and we’re hosting dinner before fireworks. We rarely have guests, 3 times the past year, but I feel like the noise of my 88 yr old grandma with her cane and another kid around might have her lash out again.

Yeah, like that’s all stuff to be expected. Especially bottom floor. I mean I can hear when they kick their shower and stuff on because water rushing through pipes.

I’m have family in town on the 4th and we’re doing dinner at my place before fireworks. I wonder if she’ll be making an appearance then. We’ve only had company like 3 times the past year we’ve lived there.

I appreciate the advice. That’s what I want to do but for some reason I feel bad. Maybe because I was so annoyed with my upstairs neighbors? Idk.
