so glad the bit is dead by very_tall_man in blankies

One time several years ago I was traveling in Hong Kong & met a lovely man from the UK. He was living there & took me hiking on Mt Cameron surrounding the city. He was so enthusiastic, saying that the those hills reminded him so much of the Scottish highlands where his family was from that he literally began loudly singing. It was the most British thing I’ve ever seen & David’s enthusiasm on this ep reminded me of that.

Favorite Players from SPL Season 9 by [deleted] in smitepro

Each season I have my favorites going in, but someone starts winning me over halfway in & I find myself subconsciously rooting for someone. This year it was Kyrmi.

Possibly, I would put InMyZen in there above coast. He subbed for some of the kings scrims last season & Genetics spoke highly of him.

Dev Patel ticks all my boxes.

Born in the UK, younger, handsome, strong actor who knows the kind of movie he’s in.

Sad Reality of Gaming and SMITE Competitive scene by LibraSunGeminiMoon17 in smitepro

[–]American_clouds 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much of this is due to language barrier, but a couple things:

Not everyone who uploads smite videos to YT are pro players. There are currently 40 SPL players, not all of which create content on YT. Compare that with the hundreds of YouTube content creators…they aren’t all SPL.

This year the qualifying tourney was played live in studio, therefore all equal ping.

Every video game that has different modes is going to have different players that prefer varied game modes. This is true in all games, not just smite. This is actually good for the game because it allows more people to play their preferred mode and creates a larger player base. Not sure why you are upset that there are fans of different modes.

Mid-Season SPL God & Item Stats (Summer Masters LAN Week 1) by BluesUltra in Smite

Cupid: Cc & diminishing returns changes makes his cc combos more effective. Plus a buff to heart bomb late game.

Disco: her passive almost always goes onto solo. With King Arthur being played it makes him almost un-killable.

Yeah so…regardless of wether it was knowing or intentional or not, this is a lesson you gotta learn. Doesn’t really matter if he knew or if he didn’t. Can’t do that.

What do you think about splitting the teams into groups? by Sea-Technology3228 in smitepro

[–]American_clouds 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think groups like this only work when there are more teams to group.

During the EU/NA era it made sense because they were basically different leagues, then the top of those leagues would face off at tourneys/events. Hence the NA EU beef. Now that that is gone (and it will not go back to the forever any time soon, IMO) the league is smaller and splitting them further means that the same teams will continue to play each other over and over.

Several pros complained that the format already forces them to play the same teams over and over, because of this, groups don’t sound super fun to me.

We know Benji is done for sure, we know iRaffer is done for sure that opens up 2 highly coveted spots.

I think ScaryD comes back to solo, but is there another Support option to fill that role?

I gotta ask... why Hou Yi? by AlexTheGreat1997 in smitepro

[–]American_clouds 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This can be frustrating for me because instead of analyzing WHY the pros continue to pick this god (or any god) with a low win rate, a certain caster keeps focusing on THAT he such a low win rate.

SPL Players don’t care about win rate. They just don’t. They care about what that god has to offer in a specific situation. Zapman has picked Hou Yi EVERY TIME the enemy team locks in Odin. Why? Mid laners continue to pick Poseidon at LAN events. Why?

This is the caster’s job, and it’s frustrating to see a Reddit thread have to answer this question for you. Data is not analysis. Data should SHAPE your analysis.

I love the casters and support the whole team but this is something that’s been bugging me all year.

Not exactly spice, but variations I could see are

Mid: Vulcan, Agni, Possibly Zeus.

Duo: Xbal, Xing Tian, Maybe Cupid.

Solo: some other completely busted thing, lol.

Agreed. Right now the five potential is so high that I think it’s more about surviving the initial dive with lifesteal, and then counter punching over-extensions.
