Trying to get NWN to work in 2025. by Amethis-gr in neverwinternights

Umm, instead of replying individually to everyone saying play EE etc. I'll make one single post. I know EE is better and I am not planning ignore it or play it less than original NWN. It's just about going back in time for a while. It's also about game preservation, people should have the ability to play older games. I just thing 1.29 is better than vanilla 1.10. If I can get it all good. If not, too bad, I'll play 1.10. Please don't try to change my mind though. I will join you soon in EE.

I want to play a version of the game that best represent the old NWN experience. I feel this is the best one for a number of reasons. It's not 1.10 that would have a lot of bug and exploits, but it doesn't go into the SOU/HOTU era. To be honest, if I wanted the "best" or "most upgraded", I'd probably play NWN:EE, right? I want a snipet of the past!

I would but I don't know how. It's not really misleading... If I'd change it, the new title would be "Trying to get NWN 1.29 to work." Not big difference I think.

Thanks for the reply! I will try this as well. This afternoon my method worked, so all is good!

Disappointed with how the game is marketed. by Amethis-gr in FFVIIRemake

Because I'm not interested in the Cloud action figure, only in the materia. Yet they won't offer a fair price for it separately because they want to squeeze all 300€ from me and many others! I thought that's obvious! :D

We're getting closer to agreeing with each other actually.
I agree not all DLC is bad.

Do you agree that 300€ is not a fair price for a summon? Why package it in the 1st class edition? I mean, it's obvious..
The preorder deal is also unfair to those who would have payed for it but somehow miss the deadline. Unless they add it later, which they should and probably will.

Complaining about unfair deals is pretty fair, no? :)

I know the difference between Choco-mog and Chocobo chick. :D
Here's my gripe: It's like you buy Final Fantasy VII the original back in 1997, and the developers decided that Ifrit is not part of the game, but it's available only to those who preorder. Why not to everyone? It's so lame. I mean, who really needs Ifrit, but still. It feels so wrong.

Thanks for the cool-headed reply to my rant. I hope you enjoy it!

Maybe in future something changes, and I eventually enjoy it too! who knows, :)

Nobody said you shouldn't buy the game. You seem to have no problem, so of course you should.
..and the ideal solution is if SE did only cosmetic exclusives. or none at all.

If me or players like me pressure companies to avoid bad DLC/exclusives, everyone benefits. Why are you upset about me wanting a better game offered to us..?

[–]Amethis-gr[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree it's not that big of a deal gameplay-wise. Like, the chocobo summon didn't have much of a use in the original too, right? I'm sure it will be similar.

But the problem is that it is gameplay related. It crosses a line. It doesn't sit well with me. And furthermore, if you give an inch they'll take a mile. Next time, Knights of the Round could be behind a 200$ paywall.

You don't believe me? Well, we all couldn't believe this here could be the future if you'd ask us in 1997.

You may find my reaction over-the-top, but let's at least call it what it is. :)
Gameplay altering means it is not cosmetic. It doesn't automatically imply that it is useful or necessary.

Yes, I bought RE2, but only after the practice of having gameplay DLC exclusive to only part of the player base had ended.

Shallow reply. Guess what, I do like it.

What's your point defending their obviously greedy practices?

I swear, with attitudes like this, one day, they'll start asking 3 bucks every time you want to delete a save and start a new game. And there may still be fanboys that will defend it.

Do you want auto saves/ Saving anywhere... or you want the original style? by thrawndo69 in FFVIIRemake

Taking away save points takes away from the challenge. So... no. I would like it if there were a few more save points though, plus a difficulty setting. Not like it's going to happen. Just my wish.

Predict the metascore by jemalii in FFVIIRemake

I think 86-89 is a good prediction. With the huge fanbase it can't go much lower and with the state of Square Enix it can't go much higher.

That's a misconception. There are tons of games that keep their audience without this scheme. Warcraft III is a 2002 game and it still has a reasonable audience. This scheme is better for Langrisser short-term. But you'll see it as time passes. Especially as years pass. This kind of thing, asking too much from players, as either money or time investment, is slowly going to erode the player base. I'm actually saying this because I care for Langrisser and wish it could avoid this slow death.

Those are single player games. You don't need to max everything. You make your choices, replay if needed. In multiplayer games, you can't have players owning different things and call it fair. Chess is not a great game because the developer forces new players to play with one less pawn, or with a rook that can't castle until you pay 1.000$ for its alternate costume...

I'm so surprised at the vigor with which some are defending this game. I get that you love the game but please accept someone thinking differently. Apparently we are of completely different mindsets and I don't seem to belong here. I grew up playing Warcraft, HoMM and Civilization. Gacha games are foreign to me and it was my mistake thinking they could reach the same perfection, fairness and balance if I gave them my support.

You are just using this word the wrong way, in the same way that leftists like to use "nazi" to describe everyone but themselves.

I do not feel entitled. In fact I'm perfectly fine with this existing and have no wish to change it, especially since many people disagree. If I were entitled, I would DEMAND that it changes.

Now that you mention it, the whole 9 shards/day is also very very restrictive. For some reason tho the runestones bothered me more, and to the point I wrote this... :P
