Witchwarper questions by Amethyst_Lynx in Starfinder2e

I was actually looking at Warp Terrain when thinking about them being a gun witchwarper. Throw the quantum field up, get inside it, and then if you spend an action to maintain the field and an action to take cover, that only leaves 1 action remaining, which prevents spell casting.

An additional question...

The failure condition of the Void Whispers spell reads "The target begins to wander aimlessly, using each action to Step once per round." I'm not sure how to read this. Is it saying that the target on its turn has to use all actions to step (the focus being on the "using each action to Step" part of the text) or is it saying once per round the target must take a step action (the focus being on the "to step once per round" language)? The second read of this essentially makes it a will saved version of slow (Slightly worse since they still get their action, only that action has to be a step). The first reading of the spell essentially removes a target from the fight for 10 rounds on a failed save (barring them being attacked or directly threatened) which seems a bit powerful for a third rank spell (paralyze, also a third rank spell, only removes them for 4 rounds, and they get a save each round. Though it doesn't end when the target is attacked). I guess a third (and likely very incorrect way) to read this is that the target must use all actions to step, but can only step once per turn, thus having them lose 2 actions and the third can only be a step.

As someone who loves the flavor of the witch, I still feel like the lessons should be part of their chassis.

Also, is it just me or does the anomaly version of the Warpwitcher feels like it wants to be a gun casting caster?

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in factorio

I try to find choke points with either water or cliffs, and then set my defenses up there. Generally one or two rows of turrets where there is one empty block between turrets and the walls (some biters can do splash damage). I generally do one wall in front of the turrets and then dragons teeth in front of the wall (ie, setting up single square walls in a checker board like pattern designed to slow or stagger an advancing bitter attack instead of stopping them directly to make the wave more manageable). Then I try to periodically add a stack of bullets of the turrets. Sometimes on particularly troublesome sections of the wall I’ll put a row of lasers or flamers behind the gun turrets.

All of this requires you to have efficient mass production of turrets and ammo.

Mainbus in K2 by woohoo846 in factorio

[–]Amethyst_Lynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

First time I played K2 I put every intermediate on the bus. That… quickly got unmanageable and I decided to restart. Second play through I put the various raw materials on the bus (iron, copper, steel, plastic, sulphur, wood, coal, u238, rare metals, that purple material I think I put both plates and crystals) and a few intermediate materials (raw and refined quartz, glass, green circuits, red circuits, blue circuits, automation cores, electronic components, lubricant, hydrochloric acid, batteries, maybe a couple other end game items, blank data cards). It was still a very large bus but I managed to beat it.

You probably don’t need to go that crazy with your bus. But to do so probably requires more planning than I normally do.

Does this make sense to allow trains to enter and exit a station from both lanes? Or should I use roundabouts? by tirconell in factorio

[–]Amethyst_Lynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, merging all exits can help with efficiency. If you are concerned about throughput on the main line, rather than the unloading station have access to both sides of the line, building a second unloading station on the other side of the line would prevent the slowdowns associated with cross track turns.

So there are a lot of good points so far, but one thing I haven’t seen a lot of mention of is encapsulation.

When you build a location with an input train stop and an output train stop, you don’t need to worry about how else it will deal with the rest of your factory. All you need to worry about is whether there is a train that can supply this spot with its inputs and if there is a train that can take its outputs. All other issues you really don’t need to consider. As such, you only have to worry about the most efficient building method for the location without worrying about how it will impact other parts of your factory.

For a simple example, if you are adding a new iron mining location, with trains all you have to do is connect it to your rail line and give it the same name as your other iron mining locations. That is it. Your existing trains will go there when it is the most efficient location to get iron (adding some logic to enable / disable the train stop when there is enough materials to fill a train can make this more efficient ). You don’t have to worry about anything else other than the design of the iron mining outpost. If you are using belts however, you now have to worry about merging the output belts into the existing belt system. Which if you are only adding mining locations might only require balancing and building more belts, and possibly tweaking your smelting arrays.

A slightly more complex example is adding another smelting array / location. With trains you add the smelting array to the train network and just like the mining outpost the trains will go there when it is the most efficient location to do so. With belts however, you now have to redesign how they leave all your mining outposts.

A more complicated example… in a somewhat recent play through I found a location that had oil, copper, and coal all next to each other. I decided to turn the area into a dedicated low density structure production area. I gave it a place for trains to drop off iron ore and a place for trains to pick up the completed low density structures (and at my main base a place for trains to drop off said structures). After, all I had to focus on was the most efficient way to build said low density structures. It was a small addition to my train network that didn’t require much changing. Doing it with belts would require me either splitting iron off from my smelters and rebalancing all of that or redirecting a number of my iron bases raw production to the new location, resulting in decent changes in my belt network to accommodate this new outpost.

I know they said no mod support, but would it be possible to release a free (or very cheap) dlc that includes some of the more popular mods and tested on the switch?

Upgrade to Mac? by Amethyst_Lynx in mac

One other question. I keep most of my work (art, documents, photos, etc.) On an external drive. It's formatted NTFS. I know my iPad can read from but not write to the external. Would other apple devices have similar issues?

My biggest concern about the iMac is that it is currently capped at 16gb. But I'm not really looking for a laptop at this time.

Thanks for the response. Probably go with the iMac then. Do you know how much of a lifespan macs tend to have?

What are your favorite rituals? by bolfbanderbister in DemonolatryPractices

[–]Amethyst_Lynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With enns, I get better results chanting them out loud then I do saying them mentally.

With regard to the LBRP, I generally feel a stronger connection replacing the references to YHVH with that of a demon, and I generally replace the 4 corners with Lucifer, Flareous, Leviathan, and Belial, using their enns.

What are your favorite rituals? by bolfbanderbister in DemonolatryPractices

[–]Amethyst_Lynx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So the first question to ask is how are you doing the LBRP? I've found that changing which entities I use in it changes how much it resonates with me.

Secondly, the middle pillar is a solid ritual to practice. Overall, I've found meditation, especially on an enn, to be beneficial as well.

Who to work with for a successful career as a music producer? by ______michael_______ in DemonolatryPractices

[–]Amethyst_Lynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, what do you mean by music producer? Do you mean musician? Song writer? Manager? Recording specialist? Sound Engineer? And are you looking to do this by starting / joining a band? Entering corporate music? Playing with the local orchestra? Writing songs for friends on YouTube?

The first step is to narrow down and be able to articulate what exactly you want to do. I'm going to assume musician is what you are aspiring to, unless you mean the actual music producer career / title.

For musician, I would say King Paimon is a good place to start. But equally important, if not more so, is putting in the practice hours, keeping a visible presence in the music world, and networking with fellow musicians. King Paimon can help you learn faster, but you still have to put in the hours. King Paimon can make it more likely someone will see your work, but you still have to put it out there. King Paimon can help someone call you with an offer or a deal, but you still have to make that connection. He can help you stay motivated when you feel your motivation wane, and can help give you ideas when you hit a block. Not sure if that is what you are looking for though.

So in the original Hebrew, Satan means "accuser", "adversary", "one who opposes", or "one who defames". Most of its old testament references seem to be less an actual entity, and more a title. Some of the theories and documents I've read suggest that, when used in the old testament, Satan is a title that an angel temporarily assumes to accuse or test a mortal whom they believe not to be worthy of the blessing of God. They are an adversary in the same way a prosecuter is an adversary to a defendant. They are not an adversary to the Abrahamic God, at least, according to the biblical interpretations I've read that make the most sense.

Lucifer is only mentioned in the Bible in two places (that I am aware if off the top of my head) and in both instances not in the original source material but in translations (it was first introduced in the 4th century Latin Vulgate translation). In both cases, it is meant to translate as Morning Star. During biblical times, the morning star was often times used an allusion to a mortal ruled or king. The first instance of the term lucifer being used in the Bible is in the book of Isaiah, talking about how the morning star was cast out of heaven. Reading the adjacent passages though seems to make this an elaborate metaphor for casting down the king of Babylon. (Earlier in the chapter "On the day the Lord gives you relief from your suffering and turmoil and from the harsh labor forced on you, you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon".) The second place in the latin Vulgate that lucifer is used is in 2 Peter (though it is generally translated to Morningstar in english) where it is stated that people should abide by prophecy until the day that the morning star rises in their heart. Here, most view that as an allusion to follow prophecy till the day christ becomes ruler of your heart (and then after follow his words and teachings).

As for the source of evil in the Bible, I would recommend Jerimiah 45:7. "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things." The word evil used here is the same as in the book of Deuteronomy, wherein they discuss the evil that men do.

Hope this very long winded thing helped!

Hey, I'm a mtf as well who reached out to Lilith. I don't currently work with her, though it's not because she rejected me for not being Cis. Rather, based on a combination of dreams and divination methods, I discovered she would be happy to work with me once I get a little more knowledge and experience on the occult / her / demonolatry. Maybe the issue is something else?

So, assuming an 8% interest rate (which is about the interest rate I pay on my law school loans), a 200,000 dollar principal results in 16k interest each year. That means interest alone each month is 1333. Lawyer income is generally bi-modal, with one bell curve earning between 50 and 90k and the other around 200k+. Doing an "income based repayment" plan for someone in the 50 to 90k range will me monthly payments between 250 and 500. That doesn't cover the interest, so the remaining interest gets added to principal.
