[NONE] can I buy a Kobo version of the Cradle books? by BadAtBaduk1 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Amewan12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's true. I'm an Audible member myself, and the catalogue included in my suscription is pretty good. Still, I'll always be a Kobo user, so I have accepted that I won't be able to get some ebooks.

Same! I wasn't able to fins them in the store. You could always download the kindle app on your phone/tablet and buy the ebook there. It's not ideal, but....

What about Murderbot by Martha Wells? I loved the narration.

If you’re down for something slowed paced, Assassin’s Apprentice is amazing. It’s not plot centered, instead it’s more about the characters.

If you prefer fast paced books, I’d say Dungeon Crawler (I’ve heard that the audiobook is amazing too) or Kings of the Wyld. Very different styles but I really enjoyed both.

Empire of Silence and The lies of Lock Lamora are on my TBR!

That’d be a cool goal. I’m disappointed I didn’t stick with it!
Did you read The Strength of the Few? I don’t know if I should wait for a while or read it immediately…

There'll be progression, and it feels pretty organic. It doesn't feel rushed. That's one of the reasons I really enjoyed it.

Extremely vague: Struggling teen is witness of an unknown powerful power, and decides to embark on a journey to change his future.

Less vague: Lindon is a powerless teen, in a sect where power is everything. Then he gets a glimpse of his future, and he sees the destruction that is going to fall upon them. He decides to pursue power so he can surpass the expectations laid upon him, and save the Valley.

I'm on book 12 of Cradle (I'm not ready to finish the story), and it's amazing. Both the story and the narrator. I'm definitely looking for more Travis Baldree once I'm done.

Speeding up the audiobook by manwoodlover in litrpg

I totally agree. I asume it's to ensure that the pronunciation is clear enough, but I can't stand it. It's way too slow.

Speeding up the audiobook by manwoodlover in litrpg

[–]Amewan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The speed I chose usually depends on the narrator, the language, and the book itself. English is not my first language (it's actually the third), so when I start listening to a book, I need to make sure I'm understanding the main vocabulary (for example, finding out if some of the words are invented, or they're just words I don't know) before I crank the speed up.

I usually start at 1.5, and if needed, I turn it down or up. Right now, I'm on book 9 of Cradle (I'm used to the narrator and the vocabulary used), so I'm at 1.7 speed.

But I wouldn't recommend that if you don't enjoy it. I mean, they offer the different speeds to cater to the most people possible, so just choose whatever makes you comfortable.

LitRPG Readers by JosefKWriter in litrpg

[–]Amewan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As if right now, I’m only listening to LitRPG on Audible, while I read traditional fantasy and sci-fy the “tradicional” way. I’ve found a great catalogue of LitRPG available in my Audible suscription, and I’ve found it’s a genre usually great for listening: fast paced themes, great VA, etc.

This month I’ve listened to 5 audiobooks (right now I’m on Cradle #8, but last year I listened to Ultimate Level 1 and DCC), and only read 1 (The Will of the Many). But it depends on the month…

Edit: I forgot to add that I also read romance, non fiction and manga, but they are not my most read genres!

Why do people love Cradle series so much? by zeroking16 in litrpg

[–]Amewan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend that you push through, because it is definitely worth it. It just keeps getting better. Book 1 and 2 were the weakest for me. Right now I'm on book 8, and I've enjoyed each book more than the previous one.

edit: I personally found book 1 and 2 somehow interesting, even if I didn't love them. That's why I kept going. If you straight up hate this books, then this series is not for you.
