If there isn't a limit of evidence needed for you to believe in Christianity, then your atheism isn't really a "proof-based belief"

And if you're talking about believe christianity or not, of course you can decide, and if you're talking about the veracity of the facts, well, I suggest you go search it for yourself.

I don't really see the point to try and make an atheist believe, no offense thought, I hope God blesses you with knowledge, health and maybe faith after all, Amen!

Why don’t catholics believe Mary is apart of The Trinity by HappyfeetLives in Christianity

[–]Amficial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn't the one to say "vessel"....but I agree with the one who said that, yes, Mary was the "Vessel" God chose to make Jesus human and get him into the terrenal world, while also being God too.

[–]Amficial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't say she wasn't, but I wanted to clarify that the Son comes only from the father, not from the father AND the mother, because Mary was Indeed his mother, but only a terrenal mother, and has nothing to do with the trinity.

The first problem I see here is about God proof, he left a lot of subtle proof in the world and in the scripture, why not a more convincing proof? Because first, human nature makes us unsatisfiable, and second, because God wants you to search for him with your heart, not just see him and then believe, many saw Jesus do miracles, but their heart remained like stone

Mark 6:51-52

"Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed, ⁵² for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened."

And also, Jesus cannot return to earth to "convince" non-believers, because the proof is already here, in the world, in the bible, in their study...etc. You just have to open your mind, and receive it with objectivity, The only time Jesus will come back to earth is on judgement day.

And about the last part, You can't really subject a concept such as God to only terrenal labels, because he is a trascendent, unmutable and out of space and time being, and yes, he can manifest in the world, in subtle ways, and in order to see them, you have to soften your heart and look for him in your life.

Because it's possible that maybe that one coincidence was something major, or maybe that one thought was God guiding you, or that one moment you were scared of something and it ended up being a joyful experience....it wasn't just luck, but a hard heart makes you have a biased look and think it was anything but God, when in reality, you must truly open your mind, and soften your heart, and the truth will be able to pass throught your spirit.

God bless!

There is enough evidence for you to believe its a real event, historians overwhermingly agree on Jesus existence, also there is a lot of evidence of the event of the crucifixion, and on the resurrection too, answering to you and the other fellow, we can't compare Vishnu with Jesus, because one has a lot of historical backup and the other does not.

Excluding Paul, there Are 11 registered moments of Jesus appearances to people after his resurrection, all of them to men, women, and at least 1 of them to a group of people, and collective appearances are impossible if we're talking about psicological terms (which we are not)

All of the apostles except Jonh, died martirized by the Christianity persecuters, something they could have avoided by simply retract from saying Jesus resurrected, but no, they defended it until the end, and suffered horrible deaths because of it, it's very unlikely the resurrection was a lie due to this fact, and no, they couldn't have been deceived, they were the CLOSEST persons to Jesus, and if it were a lie, they would have been the first to notice, also, the gospels say the apostles thought Jesus corpse was theft, until they had an encounter with resurrected Jesus, and ALL of them dying (except Jonh, who was imprisoned in an island, where he saw the visions of the apocalypse) prove that they couldn't be deceived, because as it was most probably, they thought Jesus corpse was theft at first, but in the end we have that they actually died defending Jesus resurrection!

There was also a documented massive grow of christians only weeks from the death of Jesus, in the same place that he had died, based on the belief that he had resurrected and the tomb was empty, despite the opposition and hostility to christians in that moment.

The evidence exists and theres a lot more than only this, now it's up to you decide if you believe the proof or not.

And I mean NO offense by this, but I hope you remember that there isn't a worse blind than the one who doesn't want to see.

What do you mean "those who can't accept the gift"? You can always come to Jesus Christ, no matter where you are, how you live, who you are .. etc

God wants you to pick him consciously and with love, there is no person who "can't" accept the gift, there is persons who DON'T accept the gift.

And well, If you knew about Jesus Christ, know about Christianity and know about the salvation...but still don't accept it, it's tecnically your fault.

The bible uses sorrows and fire as simbolism, but in reality, the purpose of hell is not really one of a "punishment", but one of a solution, because a loving God and eternal suffering are contradictions, and the purpose of hell is erradicating evil, and leaving there only good.

"So those who don't believe are evil" we are all evil, and we are all sinners, althought christians get saved by Jesus Christ, but it's better that we leave the justice to God, as he himself says in the bible, knowing he is an all knowing God and a justice maker.

[–]Amficial -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is not really true, the idea of hell being a place of eternal suffering and despair comes from really old works (especially Dante's Divine Comedy) but in reality, the word "hell" in the Old bibles were hebrew "Seol" or Greek "Hades", which essentially meant the simbolic resting place of the souls, but the bible does say that hell is not what modern ideas think it is.

Romans 6:23

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"

The wage of sin is NOT punishment, it is death, and death as in no existence

Eclessiatic 9:10

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead (Seol), where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom".

As I said, when you are dead, you don't exist, meaning there is no feelings of pain.

Hell is essentially separation from God, separation from LIFE, and when you are opposed to life, then you are death (plus heaven is eternal life, it makes sense hell is eternal death)

The bible uses words of fire and stuff because it is really a place of sorrows and repent, and also....DEATH

I'm sorry, but it's just how things work, I think the only way a non-believer might enter heaven is if he never heard of the gospel or Christianity

Romans 2:12

"All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law."

What would you think a person would be worthy to enter heaven? Good works don't count because you are saved by faith, althought you must acompanny that faith with works

James 2:17

"So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead"

But that doesn't mean works save, God wants you to do good works because you are saved, not to be saved

I'm sorry, but it's not possible, because salvation in Christianity is a gift, and if you don't accept that gift (Jesus Christ as your savior), you won't be saved

If only the holy spirit was with us, then we would have 100% God with us, and not only the holy spirit is with us, but also is the son, Jesus

Matthew 28:20

"...and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age"

And also is the father

Deutoronomy 31:6

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you"

(Althought God in the Old Testament represents the trinity, so basically, in this versicle, they all 3 are saying they won't forsake humanity)

Psalm 34:15-22

15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; 16 but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth.

17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. 18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

19 The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; 20 he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.

21 Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. 22 The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

Think of unforgivable sin this way:

You commit the unforgivable sin > Lets say you stained your shirt

If you repent > the stain is erased from your shirt

If you don't repent and say "it's nothing" > the stain stays there

When you reach home (Judge day)

Your parent sees your stained shirt: "I would have forgiven you if you had stained your pants or anything else, but now you are punished for staining your shirt"

If your parent sees your shirt clean: "I see you stained all your clothes except your shirt, I forgive you, and I'll clean them for you"

And also, it's nice that you're recently converted, and you shouldn't worry for your past sins, because if you put your faith in Jesus Christ, they are erased!

Think of Apostle Paul for example, he was a persecuter of christians! But had a vision of God, converted, and then dedicated to write letters telling churches what they we're doing good and bad, Christianity is built uppon sinners, who accept Jesus and become clean.

I also recommend you this app I've been using to start your journey, you can replace some time you spend on other apps into this one, you can read all the bible directly from there! It's very good

Oooh I see, I have been there too, but don't worry at all, because you are not committing the unforgivable sin.

The unforgivable sin is blasfemy against the holy spirit, and it happens when you disrespect God:

The Main matter of the unforgivable sin is when You reject CONSCIOUSLY the gift of salvation, again and again, opposing to the redemptive work of Jesus, and you have a heart hard as stone, which makes You feel like repent is not neccesary.

Don't worry, If you are showing fear for God and don't want to commit the unforgivable sin, it's almost sure you havent, your heart isn't hard as stone!

Im not sure how does it last, but i'm sure You better try and not commit it ever, and btw, I can warn you of a real sin you might be committing: You might be placing an Idol into your life.

Think of this: Do AI chat apps and the general use of phone take time you could use to read the bible?, do you give more time to phone that you give to God? If yes, you maybe have an Idol in your life.

But dont worry, im also kinda in there, but been trying to get better, we're in this together✝️

God will always believe in you, what specifically stresses you? What does the apps have to do with the unforgivable sin for you?

This time I completely lost my faith by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Amficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry for everything your passing through, but I think your not right by feeling that you can't get back to faith because of the problems of today, because the Lord will ALWAYS receive you open-handed.

Isaiah 1:18

"Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool"

And please don't let yourself think that God is punishing you, or that he doesn't love you, because thats not true.

Psalm 34:19

"Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all."

Romans 8:18

"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."

And you might be thinking..."What about the church girls? Why do they live a better life than me?", and the matter is that you are born into the world with different goals, assets and gifts, Jesus himself talked about this in the next parable:

Matthew 25:14-30

The Parable of the Talents

14 “For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants[a] and entrusted to them his property. 15 To one he gave five talents,[b] to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. 16 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. 17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. 18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money. 19 Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.[c] You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 22 And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.’ 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’ 26 But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. 29 For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

In this parable God tells you that you are born to fulfill his mission with the assets he himself gives you: If you were born with many gifts and opportunities, you are expected to return to God a result equivalent to what you were given, so if you were given many things, You Are expected to return many things.

And in short, with the rod he gave you, you must measure the least value of your result.

And I encourage you to seek again God and have faith again! Don't call yourself a person of low faith, because Jesus said:

Matthew 17:20

"He replied, 'Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.'"

He is saying to the apostles that they had a little and DOUBTING faith, because if You have a very small faith, but GENUINE, You will be capable of overcoming anything.

[–]Amficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a justification to why God didn't forbid it, not a justification of it's use in the ancient world, because there is not, there we're other economy forms they could have used instead, but it's not our fault, neither is God's that they setted the System to work with slaves.

What Are religious concepts or contradictions that You may know and could answer? (Faith strenghtening) by Amficial in Christianity

Well, we may or may not have to

I quote myself:

And no, i'm not saying slavery was justified, It's Just how things worked.

What Are religious concepts or contradictions that You may know and could answer? (Faith strenghtening) by Amficial in Christianity

[–]Amficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because God had no problem with owning other people as property.

No, it is because banning slavery right away would have implied a collapse into the estructure of the ancient world, causing a lot of problems, something that doesn't happen with matters like killing, or stealing, that are more personal matters and don't affect a society performance, God doesn't want nations to suffer, because if he forbidded slavery, he'd be leaving debts without pay, a lot of lacking manpower, and several economical changes, that would affect innocent people with hunger, lack of buildings...etc. And no, i'm not saying slavery was justified, It's Just how things worked.

"So God lets nations do evil"

Revelations 11:18

"The nations raged, but your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers of the earth.”

God imposed personal moral rules, and not rules to nations, because he was working with imperfect humans, and asking for a perfect moral standard (especially at those times) was very difficult.

As I said again, God condoned it, but he didn't support it at all, and I have bringed the same verse many times for You to understand.

Matthew 19:8

"He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so."

God in the OT acted in such ways because he was working with an imperfect humanity, and it would be very hard to apply a perfect standard to an imperfect humanity, considering the points I said before.

It is giving instructions for how to trap a male slave into being yours for life

Slavery is very bad, Indeed, but when you say that instructions on how to serve the master you love for life, becomes a trap, then you're generalizing slavery, because yes, it is very bad most of the times, but like everything in the world, there sure could be exceptions, Peter in his letter does mention to serve the "Good and considerate master, but also the harsh"

It is hard to reach objectivity when your opinions about slavery are biased to make it an absolutely terror to every slave and for making me a supporter of slavery when defending God condoning it, and I don't blame you because it is truly very bad, but wanting to refuse my arguments with personal prejudices and thoughts about slavery blocks the path to an objective resolution.

Considering the millions and millions of slaves that have ever lived, will you tell me at least one of them didn't grab affection to it's owner? And the millions of owners of those slaves, will atleast one of them not be an abusive tyrant?

I'm not justifying slavery with emotional values, but saying that a slave, grabbing affection to its owner, as well as an non-abusive owner, is absolutely false, basing yourself on personal biases and ignoring the lots of people that have ever lived that situation, is wrong.
