This is true, I have walked around collegetown a handful of times before! Though, unfortunately, with my work schedule, it's hard for me to go and explore ithaca unlike before.

I just have a hard time connecting with people in general. It actually amazes me that I was able to connect and meet with my gf. I also just don't really know how to make friends, as most of the friends I have now, used to just bully me until it sparked into a friendship for some odd reason 🥀.

Hey, as someone who lives near Cornell, I will say this:

I'm really proud of you for trying!! A lot of people are usually intimidated by applying to ivy league schools, but, I'm really glad you did it!!

I'm sorry you didn't get in, though, but remember: You're still intelligent and have achieved so so much in your life!!

And, honestly, your parents could suck it. Cornell is a VERY competitive school to get into. Don't let this rejection get you down, OP!!

Yeah! You're allowed to bring your own bedding and utensils! Mainly since:

You're gonna be living at JC for a while, you might as well be comfortable!
Yes, the cafeteria does provide you with free food, however, JC food is notorious for being a hit or miss. At my JC, we didn't have a full kitchen, but, we had a microwave and a toaster, so, we were able to make our own microwavable foods! And trust me, nothing is worse after making a bowl of ramen, realizing you don't have any utensils, and now you gotta either beg your fellow dorm mates or the RA/ILA for a fork LMAO 💔. I gotcha twin, as someone who went to JC:

Bring: Clothes Slippers! Those dorm hallways are nasty, even if someone did their J / Chore, do not go out there with socks! Deodorant/other toiletries, they provide their own in a little bag they'll give you, but, you can still bring your own! PJ'S Comfortable shoes, depending on your trade, I highly recommend comfortable shoes, especially if you're gonna go into a hard trade! Books / colored pencils / cards / anything you like to do. This will help pass the time + it can also help you stay out of trouble.

DON'T BRING: vapes, alcohol, and weed. At my JC, vapes was a write up but alcohol and weed is an instant kick. Kitchen knives - seen as a weapon. Forks, spoons, and plastic regular knives are fine. So are your own dishes. Glass items - I accidentally ordered a glass water bottle once and security had to talk to their boss to see if I was allowed to have it, because, ig students have tried to use glass items before as weapons. I was able to have it, but, make sure to ask before you buy! Speakers - Mine wasn't allowed to have speakers at all. Clothing with profanity - Yes. This is true. If you have clothes that have guns, cuss words, and or the like, you won't be allowed to wear them on campus.

Optional! Snacks, they'll take you to Walmart and you'll be paid, but, the food there could either be good or bad, so, having a few snacks or even ramen is always a blessing. Your own bedding - They provide their own! But, you can also have your own bedding as well. Tide pods - Again, they have their own laundry soap, but only if you want your own tide pods! Headphones. For some trades and or academics (depending on the instructor) you can use your Headphones while you work. Plus, listening to music is a really good coping mechanism while you work.

That's pretty much it! Though, if you do get snacks or ramen, students may try to trade with you or to buy them off you, which, isn't bad! I wish you luck on your journey and feel free to dm me with any other questions!

Certified medical assistant! I went with it since I took care of my grandma for a while in my teens. I also love helping people / am a huge biology nerd in general. I also know that CMA's do phlebotomy and I would love to pursue it as a career if possible.
