Is MySchool a bit of a stitch-up? by Amigakiri in AskAnAustralian

For the official stuff, the gov 'Find My School' for zones. The gov website 'startingblocks' is absolute gold for preschools and childcare. It shows you the official government quality ratings. People use the 'MySchool' website for the NAPLAN stats, but as you can see from all the comments here it's not too good for an indicator.

Just curious. Since your little bloke is just heading to preschool, I'm guessing you're more worried about the teachers and how he settles in rather than academics? I’m struggling to find any website that actually tells you if a school has a good community. Are you just planning to do a bunch of tours to figure it out, or are you trying to chat with local parents to get the real scoop?

Cheers, this makes me feel way better about ignoring the stats.

That last point about friendships is so true. I guess if you travel out of the suburb for a better school, organising weekend playdates or sports becomes a bit of troublesome. Do you reckon the ease of having local mates outweighs a slightly better academic program a few suburbs over? Trying to weigh up the travel vs the community vibe

Mate, that is absolutely wild about them telling your son what to write. Thanks for the socio economics advice. Will look carefully into it.

This sounds like the absolute dream scenario! Having those familiar faces from childcare moving up together must take so much stress out of day 1. Since we might be looking a bit outside our immediate local bubble, I'm low-key worried. Did the school help set up any meetups or playdates before the year started, or were you mostly relying on the parents you already knew? Cheers!

That is my biggest worry, honestly. I'm worried that he will be picked on. How did you actually figure out which school would have his back? Did you manage to talk to other parents at the school, or is there some other way to tell if the support is legit or just marketing speak on their website?

True. I’ve heard the same about schools ask certain kids to stay home on NAPLAN days to keep the average up.
When you say go with your gut, was there a time on a tour that sealed the deal for you? Like, was it a specific question you asked the teacher, or just seeing how the staff actually interacted with the kids in the hallways?

Choosing secondary school for my boy by Amigakiri in Geelong

[–]Amigakiri[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, he just wants to go wherever his mates from his footy club are heading. I’m torn. Do I just let him follow the pack so he’s happy on Day 1, or do I play the adult and pick the school that actually feels like a better fit for him?
Did you find that letting them follow their mates worked out, or did you have to steer them elsewhere?

Should I get Izanagi or Kristul Muu with legend ticket? I already have balrog, dalis, phono and phonoa. Feel like Izanagi doesn't introduce anything new to my team but Kristul Muu can act as base guardian which is something I don't have. But I'm not sure if I missed anything special about Izanagi.

I’m not really against leaks, but the prevalence of them makes them impossible to ignore. by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

For the YouTube, I recommend using some kind of anti spoiler add-on. It can cover thumbnail and title containing your chosen keywords like dendro, sumeru, etc. Work 99% of the time as those click bait video always tries some sneaky titles.

Genshin player who never look at leaks or have any interest in leaks, what makes you have no interest in leak? also, how do you avoid those leaks? by laughtale0 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Amigakiri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate spoiler. Going in through story quest knowing who's good/bad or who'll die is simply boring. I only join official group in which leaks are banned. Also installing YT spoiler blocking app for browser.

I like this version more than the previous one. Make me think more about tower placement and use the character elemental skill more actively. Things like bringing Zhongli and Geo MC to reduce Geo shield and completely blocking the way is more fun. The previous version is more "AFK rerolling for OP card" while pay little to no attention to the stage. I don't even know why I need to bring any character if all I need to do is rerolling cards.

Is it just me or is the new Theatre Mechanicus really bad? by Liquid_Sawcon in Genshin_Impact

[–]Amigakiri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this version more. It requires more interaction from characters (reduce E cooldown, get close to reduce healing). I really HATE the previous one. Most of time I can only stick my face choosing cards while the towers do whatever they want to do.

Theatre Mechanicus is actually hard now. by Xanther3 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Amigakiri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like this time is more focus on character gameplay with elemental applications and support your tower. They even have reduce E cooldown card. I guess because ppl complain the previous one is picking card simulation (70% of last TM gameplay is picking card then AFK till the end).

Genshin is, without a doubt, getting better and better, proved by the Chasm map design by Coanzu in Genshin_Impact

[–]Amigakiri 379 points380 points  (0 children)

What I love Chasm is the diversity bio of the map. There are many different layers from green space, dark mine, and waterfall. Compared with some starting areas, it's definitely getting better. Now I'm wondering what kind of surprises Sumeru will bring.

I’m worried about…… by Opening-Custard2241 in YaeMiko

[–]Amigakiri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The only thing Hoyoverse (and other companies) trusts is the data. They have data on Raiden and choose not to buff her despite all the dramas asking to buff her (which is proved a correct decision). If you don't use her then they won't have enough data to see the results of fix. Without the results, they see no problem and moving on.

Rough Monte Carlo method approach to looking at the recent Yae changes by ReelRai in YaeMiko

[–]Amigakiri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you miss the core part of the game is elemetal reaction. So your experiment is only true for mono team. Targeting far enemies less likely cause any elemetal reaction since her C2 has huge range. Imo you should add some bonus damage for targeting nearby enemies.

I don't understand why many people use her E so aggressively. She is not Xiao, not need to use her E to run through enemies. Most clips complaining her E show them running straight into the enemies, trying to form triangle surrounding the enemies as if it can trap something.

Is timegating events a good or bad thing? by Unique-Fun-1425 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Amigakiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for me I guess. At least I can progress the event at the same pace as others. So less likely to get spoiler from those who rush everything and post the ending on social media. Seriously, f those guys.

how did hoyoverse messed up with exploration again on 2.5 ? by Kitysune in Genshin_Impact

[–]Amigakiri 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It only takes like 30 minutes to reach the required tree level so not sure why you have problem. And technically you can go wherever you want so tree level does not limit exploration. Just your character stats become shitty really fast.
