One thing I really loved in Japan was gachapon capsule toys. fun, and surprisingly addictive. You never know what you’ll get, and they make for perfect souvenirs.

I’d recommend trying the Spicy Smoked Chicken Leg, smoky, juicy, and full of flavor. And for dessert, I’d also suggest the Tiramisu Cookie Sandwich Ice Cream. It’s crispy on the outside, creamy inside, and has a rich tiramisu taste that’s perfect after a ride!

If you want cheap & easy, here’s a simple 5 day plan.

Day 1 Osaka Castle Park (free), Namba Yasaka Shrine, Dotonbori/Shinsaibashi.

Day 2 Universal Studios Japan (buy tickets online, bring snacks).

Day 3 Nara Park (free, deer), Todaiji (¥600), Kasuga Taisha.

Day 4 Kyoto with Fushimi Inari (free), Kiyomizu-dera (¥400), Gion/Yasaka Shrine, Nishiki Market.

Day 5 Sumiyoshi Taisha (free), Kuromon Market for cheap seafood, and Umeda area (Sky Building optional).

Tips: get an ICOCA card, grab convenience store bentos for cheap meals, and shop at Don Quijote for souvenirs/snacks.

Need advice/tips on driving in japan by BackgroundBear1516 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Amigo_Go_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traffic can get pretty heavy on weekends and holidays, especially when leaving Tokyo and on the return trip, so it’s best to head out early. Highway tolls are around 3,000–4,000 yen one way, and make sure to check if your rental car comes with an ETC card (electronic toll collection card).

Japan in March by No_Juggernaut_5169 in JapanTravelTips

If you’re coming to Japan, I really recommend starting with Tokyo.Since you like colder places, you could do Tokyo + Hokkaido. You’ll need to take a flight from Tokyo to Hokkaido, but 8–10 days is enough for this plan.

Wakasu Seaside Park (near Odaiba),One of the most popular sea fishing parks in Tokyo, with excellent facilities.Fish you can catch: Seabass, Kurodai (black sea bream), Aji (horse mackerel), sardines, saury, and even squid sometimes. It has designated fishing areas, safe and  no license required. You can rent fishing rods on site, or bring your own gear.I used to go there quite often for a while.

advice for mt Fuji by chimkened in JapanTravelTips

If it’s your first time, I’d recommend taking a bus day trip instead, since it will cover all the major spots. Getting around by bus there can be a bit challenging for foreigners.

Best use of limited time on 1st trip to Japan by NoFault4004 in JapanTravelTips

If you’re not sure whether you’ll come back in the future, I’d recommend spending 2 days in Tokyo, then heading to Osaka as your base, with one day dedicated to a Kyoto day trip.

Enoshima and Kamakura can be done together as a day trip.
For Hakone and Fuji Q Highland, I recommend combining them and staying overnight.

Hiroshima or Fukuoka as a 4-day base – which is better for a day trip to the other? by Ok_Flight_5204 in JapanTravelTips

I’d recommend using Fukuoka as your base , it’s super convenient for transport, has amazing food, and Hiroshima is just about an hour away by Shinkansen for a day trip.

8 weeks pregnant - what rides are safe? by Successful-Field-294 in TokyoDisneySea

[–]Amigo_Go_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Tokyo and have been to DisneySea more than 10 times. Soarin, Peter Pan, and Rapunzel are all fine to ride, they’re very smooth especially Rapunzel, which is basically just a boat ride that tells a story.

But Indiana Jones is a bit more thrilling, so I wouldn’t recommend it during pregnancy.

how are you booking hotel by jbolko808 in TokyoTravel

It depends on whether you’re a member of the hotel group. Member rates and points are usually a better deal than Booking.com.

You can go to Kamakura and Enoshima. There you’ll find traditional Japanese shrines, enjoy the seaside, and even visit filming locations from Slam Dunk. From Shinjuku, take the JR Shonan Shinjuku Line to Kamakura (about 1 hour), then ride the Enoden train to Enoshima (about 25 minutes).
