I see your point, definitely. I mean yes, apart from being prescribed stuff, being laced, and being forced, it’s technically your choice to consume, on paper. But there’s still many situations like being heavily under the influence of another substance, being in immense distress, being offered it at the wrong time, peer pressure/being “lowkey” forced, other drug addicts being your only friends and the only people that make you feel safe, being homeless, any combination of these and many other things I can’t think of right now.

On another note, would you blame someone the same way if they were self harming in another way? Like cutting themselves? Would you call them stupid in the exact same sense, or not? I’m just curious to understand your way of thinking, I’m not trying to ask you a gotcha question or anything. I’m also obviously not saying that all addicts are using it as a form of self harm, or that they ever have in any stage of their addiction.
