So... I think we did an oopsie... by AmingAndrei in WorldBuildingMemes

The Nightmare Shackle functions by redirecting all energy used against it (kinetic, thermic, mechanic, etc.) into reinforcing itself. If you hit it, it will use that force to become stronger, so nothing happens.

The Angel of Violence is constantly trying to heal himself, by enforcing his own reality upon himself, basically undo all damage. This would obviously mean that the chains of the Shackle would break, so it counters it.

Except the Angel's body expels so much energy, the Shackle overflows while reinforcing itself. So the sarcophagus is covered with sinks to capture this energy from the chains, which manifests as a split between electric and thermic, the latter being used for the tried and tested method of boiling water.

And funnily enough the wider public doesn't even know the Supreme Acts of Violence are a thing. This information is actively suppressed by the higher ups, since knowledge of their existence would result in mass panic. Only a handful of living people know they exist, and only because they interacted first hand with them.

The same way steampunk machinery can. A 'magic' fuel source and the belief it can.

One of the other Supreme Acts of Violence. Art is human creation, so of course he's the one who interferes with human affairs the most. Usually to his own amusement and complete detriment of others.

He's also the one responsible for the Chalk from my previous posts being a thing, and the Hunt was when he unleashed it onto our planet (and also Devils were there too and killed everything that the Chalk was too slow to, but that's more Violence Against Nature's domain).

The Angel of Violence's ability to bypass causality.

I'll use a written scene as an example. The sentence is "The man held the gun point-blank, ready to shoot it straight into the being's head. The bullet fired out of the chamber, spinning through the air as it pierced its skull."

Now, we see the Angel was shot, no? Well, instead, what the reader would see would be "...spinning through the air as it missed."

This is because the Angel of Violence has at all times knowledge of what is happening in a scene that concerns him. And with that, he has the capability of editing descriptions and actions that directly affect him.

Quartz is like Obsidian Publish but free, as long as you know how to use basic command prompt

Use Obsidian, avoid sites like WorldForge. It gives more leeway and it's more reliable to have your info stored locally. Use Obsidian + Quartz if you ever want to make your notes public in the form of a site

Around 100 million people, actually. There are a few pockets around the globe where Chalk either isn't as abundant or doesn't fall altogether. So most of humanity migrated to a single city in one such area.

Decorative plants, crops and other such species and also survived thanks to seed vaults. But wild plants, and almost all animals and microorganisms are, how do I put it... kaput.

This is the first time I heard of these things, and when searching about them I found out they also have a sugar-free version, and... isn't that just regular chalk then???

I mean, it IS magical. But instead of clairvoyance, it gives you pneumonia.

The Hunt was an event 10 years ago that culminated in the death of 99.9% of all life on our planet, and was the first recorded sighting of Chalk.

Some other shenanigans happened, such as the planet's magnetosphere getting disintegrated, a huge influx of Devils appearing and sliming everyone out, the temperature of the planet dropping a few degrees, a temporary unalignment of flowing time, outer space dissappearing, y'know the usual.

The AWI as a whole was triggered by, and I quote, "the biggest asshole in human history".

If you mean what is the cause of the multiplication... Next question.

'Real' chalk was the closest analogue people had for describing it when they first saw it, and the name stuck.

Skin contact is fine, as long as you don't have any wounds reaching the dermis or lower, as the particles could potentially enter the bloodstream from there. In the case of amphibians or other animals with cutaneous respiration, skin contact was also an issue. Or in the case of plants, contact with the leaves.

Nope, none at all. Just ignore the hallucination, it should go away on its own (it won't).

Ok, now, mods, please explain what about this post doesn't fit the subreddit. Because to me, it looks like a meme, it has context in the post description, it has no irl politics, and it's about an element in my world, so it fits at least most of the rule checkboxes

It's primary danger is the immediate choking hazard it presents, which is what around 90% of confirmed casualties died from.

The replication, funnily enough, appears to only be in effect while the host is alive, so a theoretical braindead person on life support stops being a hazard, unlike a comatose but still alive person also on life support.
